Last week I had a chance to dine and chat with Raku Hokkaido Ramen House's Chef C.K. Kalaw located at the heart of Salcedo Village, Makati City. I am lucky to taste the the restaurants delicious cuisines and felt like I am at Hokkaido, Japan's largest and northest prefectural-level subdivisions and a popular vacation of Japanese. From the interior with an apple green color and pieces of furniture that made of woods to the murals that features the Japanese culture.
Raku has a variety of Japanese cuisine that you would love to eat, I started my adventure from the line of ramen. They say that ramen taste came from its broth, assimilating the fermented miso into the soups provides a comforting, filling and flavorful experience. Raku has variations of the four basic ramen flavors: Shoyu (soy-based), Shio (salt), Tonkatsu (pork broth) and, of course, miso.
Served with characteristic Japanese minimalism on beautiful pottery imported straight from the inscrutable country, Raku is easily an authority on Japanese noodle preparation. However, it is worthy to note that you will be surprised the different noodle dishes bring consumers to a unique noodle experience.
Other must try dishes are Hiyashi Kani Ramen Salad (cold crab salad), Yakitori, Karei Karaage, and Chicken Teriyaki. You will never fail feeling like in Japan when you dine in Raku because Andrew Marasigan, the entrepreneur behind the Advent Manila restaurants, a former recipient of the Monbukagakusho (formerly Monbusho) Scholarship. He had to find work for his own spending money during his semester-long sojourn and found himself apprenticed at a ramen house and learn all about it and brought it here in our country.
Combined it with beverages and desserts that would make your meal a great and exciting finale like Apple Nectar, Almond Roca, Strawberry Cheesecake Mirukuseki and of course my favorite Coffee Jelly.Raku is a must try restaurant in the metro it will definitely provides its consumers with comforting and legitimate Hokkaido cuisine in a typical Japanese setting, but surprises them with a playful and impish after taste which lend a sense of blissful happiness and contentment.
