XO46 Bistro at Salcedo Village

At the heart of Salcedo Village Makati City there's a restaurant that will capture the varied taste of Philippine cuisine - XO46 Bistro Filipino. I am privileged to taste the restaurants' delectable dishes and the  feeling of being señorita. As we enter the restaurant we were greeted by the servers dressed in customary Filipino baro’t saya or camisa 'magandang hapon señorita' I felt that I came from  Buena Familya with excellent manners, respect for elders, pride for country, and good education. Then we were seated at the most comfortable seat inside with very cozy dining set. I also saw a big chair that has a shell shape and the lamps around are so stylish.

Likewise, Ms Charlene Soriano , the branch supervisor welcomed us and offered a complimentary puto served with special mantequilla while waiting for their prepared meal for us.

Why XO46? “XO” is an abbreviation of extraordinary, whereas “46” signifies the true independence day of the country, July 4, 1946.

Owned by Sandee and Andrew Masigan  who both love food and were influenced by their Lolas, especially Sandee who developed her palette to satisfaction, and leaves a bit of herself in the cuisine of XO46, a sweet and generous little gift. Sandee paid close attention to the menu, which was then refined by cordon bleu trained Executive Chef, CK Kalaw.

The Sopa de Mariscos then served, a seafood soup with serve with bread covering the top of the soup bowl a perfect appetizer and good combination to start a meal.

Then Kare- kareng Crispy Tadyang was and served it with the meat separate from the sauce. The meat specifically beef belly is so crispy and its a good thing it is served separately for it to maintain its crispness.

Bangus Salpicao is my personal favorite here because it taste a little bit like of my mothers bangus salpicao also.Bangus belly salpicao is fried to a crisp and tossed with so much garlic, onion, and siling sinigang. So delicious you should try it, its chili hot due sili but you can manipulate on putting it.

Another true Filipino cuisine is the Pinakbet ng Laoag, A healthy food which made my mouth salivate because it topped with strip of bagnet (deep fried pork meat) and a perfect cooked vegetables.

After a great meal, they offered a freshly made  Sapin-sapin with ice cream and a Manticado Jalaya a frozen  ube jalaya with leche plan ang ice creme for desert. A true way of finishing a Filipino meal.
