#Y is awarded as the Best Cast Ensemble at the recent Cinemalaya X, now it reach the mainstream theater that will be showing on December 10, release by Star Cinema. The movie is about the life, adventures and struggles of generation Y that is greatly influenced by the social media and the YOLO (You Only Live Once) ideological lifestyle. The life of youngsters of today that we all should know and understand. United in one goal to survive and get out of the shell to experience life to the fullest.
At the recent press conference happened, the cast shared that the movie gave them freedom to express what is the real situation of young adults of today and portray their life as well as understand not only by them but by everyone.
"I hope people will watch it, because it will show their favorite idols in the showbiz industry, portray different and unique character that can also be relate to them" direk Gino said.
Direk Gino graduated digital filmaking from De La Salle University and enrolled filmmaking workshops at Asia Pacific Film Institute, Marilou Diaz-Abaya Film Institute and New York Film Academy as well as Kyoto, Japan. He showed what he got on the films he made like "The Animals" (2012) and "Island Dreams" (2013) which both receive awards and recognition..
The cast of the movie proved that direk Gino is really a director of the future. The whole #Y movie was made within six (6) days only. The cast shared how easy to work and be one in the movie under the director.
"I auditioned for the role and I am happy, kasi they have the process the if you auditioned and your really fit the role, they will stick on their decision" Chynna shared.
"Very light lang yung trabaho namin sa movie na ito, para lang kasi kaming nag-lalaro, mag-babarkada, so walang pressure sa set, so kaya siguro we could express on what we got as an actors" Coleen divulged. "Direk Gino kasi has been my friend since we were 10 years old, we both pa ramp model, kasi from the start comfortable talaga ako kay direk, but I went though the whole process, nag-audition ako" she added.
"First movie ko po ito and direk Gino really gave us freedom to show our acting ability in our respective characters, walang pressure, he was so cool and very relax and magaan lang" Sophie said.
"Very open si direk Gino in terms of suggestions and recommendations, I always ask him about this and that and he has an open mind to consider and try everything" Slater revealed.
"For naman the experience was super light lang, the difference with direk Gino is, alam na alam nya yung direction nya sa movie, alam nya yung gusto nyang gawin or makuha, yun yung nagustuhan ko, and nung napanuod ko ang film super sakto sya" Elmo said.
