Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) is our country's arm for the protection of social welfare and promoting human development. To do this they also have various programs and projects in order for them to focus on their goals. There are three Anti-poverty programs under DSWD: Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Pragram (4P's), Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDSS) and Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP).
4P's is a human development program of the government that focus in the health and education particularly children aged 0-14. It provides cash grants to the poorest household in a community. But before that they undergo intensive survey and research to be consider as beneficiary. This is a 5 year project that enables people to stand on their own in the future with the help of 4P's.
Another program called SLP, a community based capacity building program that seeks to improve participant's socio-economic status. It enables particicipants to manage their own micro-enterprise or helping them to find a job suited for them to develop their standard of living. From pre-implementation (livelihood, resources and market), social preparation (knowledge and information),capacity building (skills training), resource mobilization (accessibility) until management and sustainability (monitoring, evaluation and reporting) SLP will help any step of the way.
On the otherhand, KALAHI-CIDSS another community-driven development that aims to empower communities through their enhanced participation in community projects. Community meetings and teaching to know the needs of the people and impart knowledge for them, part of it also is to know the strength of a particular community and used it as their tool to scale up and establish.
The three core programs will basically strengthen the communities protection and development. A brighter light of the community's future is seen if these three are supported by government and also with the cooperation of every Filipino. Reducing poverty is not an easy job, despite issues spreading around involving some people in the authority, just do the right thing and have fear to God, for the improvement of yourself and your family, you will never go wrong :).
