Ramon Magsaysay Award Foundation (RMAF), is a non-profit body that recognizes outstanding individuals and organizations. To honor people or group of people on how they work with greatness of spirit in service to the peoples of Asia, regardless of race, creed, sex, or nationality, as well as whether they have achieved distinction in respective fields and have helped others selflessly.

Recently, I together with my other blogger friends, we participated in “GOS Ambassadors’ Kapihan Session: Translating Greatness of Spirit to Ethical Governance held at the Asian Library at Ramon Magsaysay Foundation Building in Roxas Boulevard. A chance to watch the "Riddles of Change: Democracy and Good Governance" that features inspiring individuals of Asia, that gave great service to the people and built remarkable honor.

A Ramon Magsaysay Awardees, firstly, Kiran Bedi of India a highest ranking female police with dynamic leadership and effective innovations in crime control, drug rehabilitation, and humane prison reform. Secondly, Sheila Coronel of Philippines, a leader of Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism that develop the craft as a critical component of democratic discourse in the Philippines. Thirdly, Teten Masduki of Indonesia, who teach his countrymen to expose corruption and claim their right to clean goverment.

Another equally concern individuals about the condition of their country and RM awardees are; Park Won Soon of South Korea, who was awarded because he is active in fostering social justice, fair business practices, clean government and generous spirit in South Korea's young democracy, Aruna Roy of India which empower Indian villagers to claim what is rightfully their by upholding and exercising the people's right to information. The last but not the least is Jesse Robredo from Naga City Philippines that greatly demonstrate that effective city management is compatible with yielding power to the people.

All in all, the RM awardees mention above are the ones who lead and empowered people to fight for their right and unleash corruption. Corruption is the main root of all problems arising from ones country and I think the government must do something about it. It is seldom that, I attended talks, sharing or events like this. It will remind me also to be a better individual, even in my own little way. It also inspire me most by watching the RM Awardees which doing humane things especially if you have fear in God.

This year five Ramon Magsaysay Awardees will be given recognition in the coming months. Our very own Domingo, Ernesto, Komisi Pemberantasan Korupsi of Indonesia, Lahpai Seng Raw of Myanmar, Habiba Sarabi of Afghanistan, and Shakti Samuha "Power Group" of Nepal.
