"BIKTIMA" (victim) is define as the living creature who is harmed by or made to suffer from an act, circumstances and condition. A person who suffers injury, tricked and taken advantage of. What if you will become a victim? where will you start to live normal again? how will you change the things that was happened?. This are some of the questions that will run into our minds if we will become one.
Last week I was invited in the press conference of the movie "Biktima" starred by Philippine cinema's reliable performers Cesar Montano and Angel Aquino with the youngest director to helm 175 episodes of telenovela series on TV, Direct RD Alba . Shot entirely at director and main actor's hometown which have picturesque view-Bohol.
The movie is about a female TV reporter Alice played by Angel who wants to fulfill her duty on the field, but her husband Mark played by Cesar, is against it due to danger but Alice still pursued. The situation turned into turmoil when Alice is believed to have died in the ambush with her fellow reporters and is found when Mark's life is ready to move-on after six months of her disappearance. Alice having memory erased about what happened especially the part when she was gone. On the other hand, Mark turns his attention to Alice's best friend Sandra played by Mercedes Cabral.
Husband and wife get back together in one roof but then the missing pieces of what happened in months of disappearance fall into place and this triggers psychological scars to unravel and gradually erupt into an explosive crescendo.
The press throw lots of questions about the movie because they were also interested what was happened to Angel's character and the suspense it caused after we have seen the full trailer. Learning that the movie was shot for only 8 days and 4 days for Cesar's role is a remarkable thing that every scene the actor is present and Cesar himself admits that RD really knows what he is doing, focus and mastered the craft of filming especially the editing.
Learning that director RD Alba took Master of Fine Arts in Film Directing at the Los Angeles Film School in Hollywood, I can totally agree that he has the taste and vision on this field. He also shared to us that he is glad to be working again with Cesar like they did on "Panaghoy sa Suba" in 2004 which gain recognition. Now that he has more experience and facilities of making a film, no one can stop him from moving forward and shared his talent for Filipinos.
