Brigada Eskwela (Natinal Schools MaintenanceWeek) is an annual program of Department of Education since 2003 which enhances the value of cooperation and volunteerism from any part of the society for schools through cleaning and repairing school furnitures. It also develop the awareness and involvement of the community for education and be part of the man-hours that schools need in every execution. The program was very successful yearly because more and more schools participated and it is constantly increasing and almost doubling annually. In a sense the effort also becomes a symbolic gestures of how the private sector been strongly supporting public education. As a result, Brigada Eskwela won the Anvil Award in 2010 for public relation.
This year Brigada Eskwela will then be happening on May 23-28, spare-headed by the Department of Education Secretary Bro. Armin A. Luistro, FSC together with the rest of the education advocates team and volunteers from each participating schools. A week of cleaning and repairing school tools and equipments in preparation for the opening of the school year this coming June 6, 2011. Added to that, the Australian Agency for International Development (AusAid) and United States Agency for International Development had pledge to help for the repair and repainting of public schools.
Let us all support this program and head over to the schools that will participate and they need your help as well. Do this not only for your children, but also for the future leaders of our country, that deserves a clean and well functioning tools for their study.
