Walt Disney Pictures brings you The Sorcerer's Apprentice a movie about friendship,determination and love.An action/adventure movie which gives a fun and exciting experience about magic and spells. This entertaining two hours movie had a lot of details and scenes which shows great visual effects and quirky geek humor.But the actors saddle some of its character. Though I like Nicolas Cage so much, I did'nt get the Van Helsing-ish thins that he has on this movie.
The movie starts with narration of what happens 740 AD, when great wizard Merlin together with his three apprentices: Baltazar(Cage), Hovarth(Molina) and Veronica(Bellucci) protecting the world from the evil sorcerer Morgana (Krige). But all of it turns into chaos, when Hovarth turn againts them and helping Morgana to steal the magical spell called "The Ring" to rule the world and kill Merlin.And to prevent Morgana from hurting everyone, Veronica merge her soul to her and Baltazar had no choice but to capture them both into the nesting doll until he finds the "Prime Merlinian" who can only defeat the power of Morgana as Merlin's said before he dies.Then thats the start of Baltazar's in search for the chosen one, until he met Dave (Cherry) a 10- years old boy who happens to visit at Baltazar's occult shop.It all started from there...
The special effects of this movie was so great Jerry Bruckheimer's team really did a great job in polishing and sharpening every sequence of it. From the very beginning this film never fails to entertain me, specifically the China town fighting and chasing,the steel eagle turn into life, and the dancing lightning coil of 20-year old Dave (Baruchel this time) trying to impress Becky(Palmer), the love of his life since grade school. Likewise quirky geek humor of this movie will inspire you more to listen attentively because they will not give you a hint on where they gonna put it. Having a poker face a little bit and a sarcasm sometimes you will catch it if your they called "mababaw" like me heheh....
On the other hand, the love story between Baltazar and Veronica which made me think twice, not just because I like Cage its just that, the love story that they have is not elaborated at the beginning so, I was not expecting it. So instead of focusing on the love story of Dave and Becky specially on the end part. Baltazar and Veronica will spoiled the moment heheh...
Overall if your looking for a movie that will watch together with your children you should check this one out since its Rated-G by the MTRCB and the action/adventure, fun and enjoyable one.
