REBISCO AWARDS 55 SARI-SARI STORE OWNERS WITH STORE MAKEOVER AND PRODUCTS


Manila, Philippines – Homegrown snack giant Rebisco is spreading the anniversary joy to its grassroots business partners.

As part of its 55th year celebration, Rebisco awarded 55 lucky sari-sari store owners with store makeover and products for each. The winners were selected among hundreds of small business proprietors who shared their stories detailing how the snack food giant has made an impact on their lives and businesses.


According to Rebisco President Jonathan C. Ng, the project was borne out of a simple yet poignant motivation: to express gratitude. “Sari-sari stores are crucial to our business model,” he said. “These entrepreneurs are our loyal and hardworking community partners who help nourish Rebisco’s continued growth and success. This project is one of many ways we want to give back, by empowering them and their businesses.”



Shining the spotlight

Of the 55 winners, three were featured in an online video recently released by Rebisco.

Ester Recinto, a 66-year-old sari-sari store owner from Batangas, runs a strategically located store near an elementary school. She started selling in 1974, with a P300 capital. Over the years, she was able to grow her business from a cabinet display of Rebisco products to an actual store.

Twenty-two-year-old Naname Dahoya from Cebu started a sari-sari store to help augment her parents’ meager income and support her six siblings. She calls Rebisco her “superhero” because the company’s popular snacks helped her small business grow, thus providing her and her family a more stable income.

The third featured winner is Sally Angulo from Zamboanga del Norte. At first, Sally only sold condiments and vegetables but eventually realized that there was a market for snacks. After researching her options, she decided to sell Rebisco products because of its high-quality products at more affordable prices.

“We hope that their stories inspire others to persevere amid adversities,” Rebisco Trade Marketing Head Michelle Ceniza said. “We are grateful to our partner sari-sari store owners for their loyalty and patronage these past five decades. It truly is an honor for Rebisco to be an instrument to the success of their business.”

Stronger partnership

After a momentous year-long anniversary celebration, Rebisco looks to the future with optimism.

“We look forward to sharing more successful years with our sari-sari store partners,” Ng added.

RIVA QUENERY MAKES HER MUSIC DEBUT WITH “REWIND”




Dancer, YouTuber, and Multimedia personality, Riva Quenery– or more popularly known as RIVA marks her debut as a recording artist with her single, “Rewind,”released under Ivory Music & Video.

Fresh from the single that will be launch in YouTube Fan Fest Manila 2019 in MOA Arena, the song is now available on Spotify, iTunes, Apple Music, and all digital streaming platforms. The lyric video is also now available on YouTube. The official music video will be released on May 29, Riva’s birthday.

“Rewind” is a song full of longing for a lost love. Reminiscing memories with a past lover, the song’s protagonist wishes for time to rewind and for the same burning love to come back around. The combination of the upbeat, dance melody and the melancholic lyrics will surely take the listeners by surprise. “Crying in the club” as what the youth call it.



Riva Quenery rose to fame when she started her YouTube channel, RiVlog, in 2016, where she showcases her dancing abilities and connecting to her fans through her vlogs. RiVlog reached one million subscribers on February 2019. Riva further minted her name in showbiz when she joined noontime show “It’s Showtime” as a member of the girl group GirlTrends. She was also recently part of the reality talent show “World of Dance Philippines” as a co-host for World of Dance Online.

ALTERNATIVE POP BAND ROOM FOR CIELO BRINGS A WAVE OF NOSTALGIA WITH A SONG ABOUT MOVING ON

“Promise bukas, malakawa meron na ako’ng iba,” sings ROOM FOR CIELO, an alternative pop band hailing from the south of the metro. In their newest single, the band narrates the ups and downs of nursing a heartbreak. “Bukas, Makalawa” pulls at the listeners’ heartstrings as the protagonist reminisces a lost love and his journey of moving on. With its relatable and honest lyrics, “Bukas, Makalawa” is the newest hugot song to dominate music listeners’ sawi playlist.

Room for Cielo is known for their nostalgic sounds from the 80s-90s OPM era and flavours of modern Pop and Ballad infused to their music. The band consists of Pael Gutierrez (vocalist), Daryl Cielo (guitarist/composer), PJ Ballares (bassist), and Justin Felias (drummer). 

They recently released the music video for their song “Hindi Ko Alam.” Fans can also expect more songs and shows from the band this 2019.

STARBUCKS GOES GREENER ON EARTH DAY

To encourage reusability on Earth Day and to inspire its customers to make more sustainable choices all year long, Starbucks will launch reusable hot and cold cups in the Philippines. Reducing its environmental footprint and positively impacting the communities it serves has always been important to Starbucks. Starting April 22, the reusable cups and straws will be available at all Starbucks® stores in the Philippines. 


Interestingly, the reusable cup is nearly identical to Starbucks iconic white cup and is made from polypropylene, a plastic which is widely accepted into global recycling infrastructure. The new reusable cups are designed to make the cup sturdier than paper and is a more sustainable approach to single-use packaging.

As Starbucks continues to works towards creating a more sustainable planet, it also empowers others to join the cause and help organizations with the same vision. From April 22 to 26, customers who will bring in their reusable cups, personal tumblers or mugs of at least 16oz. in size or higher will be given the option to donate their Php5 cup discount to their choice of environmental organization from the given NGO partners. Upon choosing an organization to donate to, customers will receive a complimentary upsize.

Customers may choose between the World Wildlife Fund for Nature Philippines or the Haribon Foundation, two organizations dedicated to preserving life and nature. By the end of the promo, Starbucks commits to shoulder the amount needed to match the donations between the two organizations.

Globally, an estimated 600 billion paper and plastic cups are distributed annually. Although Starbucks cups only account for around 1% of that total, it is committed to bring more sustainable solutions to reduce waste. Since 2014, Starbucks has offered the reusable cup in the U.S., Canada and the U.K. and so far the company has sold more than 25 million globally.

Last year, Starbucks also announced its goal of removing all plastic straws in its store globally by 2020. In the Philippines, the coffee brand has also begun taking steps towards this goal with the Skip the Straw initiative. At local stores, customers are offered to skip the straws, disposable utensils and napkins for their orders and are provided more sustainable options including specially-designed sipping lids and compostable straws.

“We’ve seen an increase in public awareness and concern for the plastic waste issue in recent years. We’re proud to provide a reusable option in all Starbucks® stores in the Philippines without making sacrifices to our customers’ daily coffee needs,” said Keith Cole, head of marketing, category and QA, Starbucks Philippines. “While there is still a long way to go, we’re excited to work with others to find global solutions and encourage our customers to choose reusability whenever possible.”

PETRON LAKBAY ALALAY HOLY WEEK 2019 SCHEDULE


In its continuing efforts to offer Filipino motorists “the best ang biyahe” experience, market leader Petron Corporation is once again activating the country’s longest-running motorist roadside assistance for the Holy Week holidays with Petron Lakbay Alalay pit stops at 11 stations in Luzon, and 6 stations in Visayas and Mindanao.

From April 17 to 21, groups of Petron employee-volunteers will be devoting their Holy Week break to offer emergency assistance to motorists with car problems like overheating, flat tires, and other car concerns.
Participating Petron service stations and Car Care Centers will offer free safety checks to ensure that vehicles are roadworthy and properly maintained. For those who might be feeling the physical effects of travel, a free 15-minute reinvigorating massage can be availed to ease those tired muscles and, if necessary, there is also free medical assistance. There will be fun road safety games with fun prizes while learning how to drive safely. Everyone can also enjoy freebies from Petron Lakbay Alalay partners.

GET READY FOR STARBUCKS SUMMER GETAWAY



Summer is definitely here and what a great way to compensate with the high temperature it creates? Well let me share you this, it's with the Starbucks newest beverages. This April 9, Starbucks is encouraging customers to get ready for summer getaway with a new set of beverages - Triple Mocha Frappuccino, Dark Caramel Coffee Frappuccino, Red Velvet Cake Cream Frappuccino and of course the returning Mixed Berry Frappuccino.
   

The Triple Mocha Frappuccino® is loaded with Dark Mocha Sauce layered between cold-brew infused whipped cream, white chocolate, and dark caramel. Take away the Dark Mocha Sauce and add some rich and buttery Dark Caramel Sauce and the drink transforms into the delicious Dark Caramel Coffee Frappuccino®. Another drink added to the regular menu is the Red Velvet Cake Cream Frappuccino®, a confectionery-inspired blend of chocolaty chips, mocha sauce, raspberry and vanilla syrup, topped with whipped cream.

For those who want to feel the tropical vibes, Starbucks also offers a limited-time beverage just for the season of sun – the Mixed Berry Frappuccino® with Pomegranate Pearls. The smooth and fruity beverage is made with mixed berry sauce blended with velvety milk, topped with cream to balance its tart berry flavor.

Apart from their handcrafted Frappuccinos®, Starbucks also offers a tropical treat in the form of fresh coffee beans with the new Starbucks® Kopelani Blend – a blend that brings the flavors of Hawaii into each cup. At the heart of this summer creation is the Hawaiian Ka’u coffee, combined with East African and Latin American beans which enhances the nutty notes and caramelly sweetness, for which Ka’u coffee is known for.


Carry with you the perfect complement for the balmy weather - the Botanical card, a Starbucks Card which features island scenes and tropical plants, available for an initial activation amount of Php300. Another fun and cute design is the new Popsicle card, also available for an initial activation of Php300.

There will also be new Starbucks merchandise to help you feel summer-ready wherever you go. The ‘A Day in The Island’ collection transports customers straight to the beach with its gradient designs depicting island scenes from sunrise to sunset and tropical plants. With the sun brightly shining this time of year, the ‘Gold’ collection also perfectly captures the glow and shimmer of the season with its golden tumblers in new and classic shapes.

The Siren’s Island

To start off the summer getaway, Starbucks invited customers to join in a fun and feel-good break at the Siren’s Island – an island-carnival event where they could throw their cares to the wind and have a good time, all while enjoying the latest Starbucks’ summer offerings.


There was a grand Starbucks Ship welcoming deck - a wooden dock that marked the entry way to the sweetest destination. Fusing the elements of an island getaway and a summer pier carnival, the Siren’s Island brought the best of summer experiences in one spot.

Different stations were inspired by the new Starbucks beverages just like the tall, Dark Caramelt Mountain with its rich caramel lava. Fortunes were uncovered at the Triple Mocha Room which was designed in true carnival fashion. There were also plenty of games to play at the booths just like berry-picking at the Mixed Berries Forest and the classic ring toss game at the Red Velvet Magic Shack.
   
No carnival would be complete without a merry-go-round and the Siren’s Island also had it with a twist, a Selfie-Go-Round, carousel-themed 360 photo booth where everyone got to goof off and share clownish moments with their friends. Dressed up as a carnival knick knack store, there was also the Siren’s Souvenir Shop where guests got to grab Starbucks merchandise. The funfair was complete with a food cart that served up Starbucks drinks and snacks.

The Siren’s Island is just the first of many more fun and carefree summer moments that customers can share with Starbucks. Starbucks’ doors are always open, calling everyone to come in to getaway and sip a quick summer escape!
