SHELL BIKE FAIR 2017 WRAPS UP IN MANILA

Motorcycle riders in the Philippines continue to grow in number every year. According to the Industry Government Online, Metro Manila has 860,517 registered bikers, making it the largest motorcycle community in the country. The two-wheeled vehicle has become a common and essential mode of transportation for Filipinos.

Shell Bike Fair 2017 Manila Leg

CONVERSE INTRODUCES NBA CHUCK TAYLOR ALL STAR COLLECTION


Converse NBA collection celebrates basketball history and culture

SUNPIOLOGY EVOLVES INTO A BIKE-RUN EVENT


The highly-anticipated annual fun run organized by Sun Life Financial Philippines, will soon cater to both running and cycling enthusiasts, as it evolves into a two-fold event dubbed Sunpiology Duo.


#SunpiologyDUO will come in two parts: 

Sun Life Cycle PH @BGC and Sun Life Resolution Run.

Sun Life Cycle PH will take place on November 18, 2017 at the Bonifacio Global City in Taguig. Sun Life will be mounting the event in partnership with Sunrise Events, Inc., which is known for its flagship projects that focus on race organization and sports tourism. The contract signing between the two companies was held recently in Shangri-La Mactan in Cebu, with Sun Life CEO and Country Head Riza Mantaring, Sun Life brand ambassador Piolo Pascual, Sunrise Founder Wilfred Uytengsu, and Sunrise General Manager Princess Galura in attendance.

“We recognize cycling’s growing popularity in the Philippines, and this is our share in helping encourage more people to get into the sport,” Sun Life Chief Marketing Officer Mylene Lopa said. “Just as it is in our fun run, Sun Life Cycle PH will cater to different ages and will offer different categories.”


Sun Life Cycle PH will have a total of seven categories: Tricycle Ride (100 meters for 2-3 year olds), Kids’ Ride (500 meters for 4-5 year olds), Family Ride (30 minutes for 6-15 year olds with adult companion), Solo Ride (30 minutes for 6-15 years old), Short Distance Ride (20km for 10 years old and above), and Long Distance Ride (40km for 10 years old and above). A charity category called Bid2Bike lets the fans of Piolo Pascual, Matteo Guidicelli, Inigo Pascual, Gerald Anderson, and other Star Magic celebrities, bid for a chance to bike alongside their idols, an exclusive photo souvenir, and have their jersey signed. For cycling enthusiasts, they can bid to ride with legend Robbie McEwen

Meanwhile, the Sun Life Resolution Run will happen on January 20, 2018. As with the previous years, Sun Life will once again mount the event with Run Rio and will offer 3k, 5k, and 10k categories. It features an obstacle course that illustrates the steps to prevent diabetes, like watching what you eat and why exercise is important. More details will be revealed in the coming months, which includes an expanded payment facility like PayPal and DragonPay.

4S1M-Yamaha Racing Team, Strikes Gold in the Eneos Philippine Motorsport Championships


The 4S1M-Yamaha Racing team powered by BRT and Racing Force made a powerful comeback, bagging gold and silver awards twice, on the recent fourth leg of the ongoing Eneos Motorsport Championships last August 5 and 6, 2017 at the Clark International Speedway. A more aggressive 4S1M racing team dominated the Clark track in the Moto IR 2 Category with Jeff Teopengco posting first place finishes on both races 1 and 2. Meanwhile, Mark Djereck Ondillo and new rider of the team, John Emerson Inguito, both won second place under 115 Underbone Novice and 150 Open Underbone, respectively.


For this leg, the 4S1M-Yamaha Racing Team showcased the introduction of the latest R15 from Yamaha Philippines and once again brought their finely tuned 150cc Sniper MX and 160cc Mio Scooters with them. The racing team’s motorbikes were fully decked out with impressive racing parts from its exhaust system from Replica Pro, to sprockets from RK Racing Chain, to its suspension from Gaz-i Philippines and Moto Garage PH, brakes and brake pads from Nissin, and to Racing Boy’s mags and FDR wheels.

On the first day of the race, the 4S1M-Yamaha Racing Team showed impressive performances during the qualifying lap, gaining them advantageous position points for the final race. Under UBK 115 category, Ondillo placed pole position; Teopengco, Inguito, and Lopez recorded second, third, and fourth in the UBK 150, respectively; also, Teopengco placed second under PSR 160cc. The racing team was more composed and bolder giving the whole team the assurance that they will dominate the actual races—a statement seconded by General Manager Uy.


"The qualifying time trials went well since our riders are used to wet races. It actually depends on their skills because you cannot push the engine power to its limit on a wet track, or else their motorbikes will slip," explained Chief Mechanic Joji Sanvictores.
Even the threat of inclement weather couldn't dissuade the persistent 4S1M-Yamaha Racing Team on the second day of the race. Jeff Teopengco hit the track with the latest Yamaha R15 with its mechanical upgrades and a new VVA engine—powered by a 155.1 cc single cylinder, SOHC, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected mill coupled to a 6-speed gearbox. Teopengco dominated the first race finishing six laps and continued ruling the second race with a 7-second difference leaving other riders behind. Co-racing under the Moto IR Division, Paul Mark Doblada and Herbert Lopez finished a lauded performances.

In the other key category, it was a victorious moment for Mark Djerick Ondillo who started struggling on his first race--even crashing on his first lap. But with his mettle to win, he continued the race with a hurt arm and managed to finish second in the 115 UBK Novice Category.

John Emerson Inguito, who was the newest addition to the team, showed off his maneuvering skills winning second place under 150 Open Underbone. “I am very happy that I won the race, considering the fact that I am against other skilled racers,” he shared.

Meanwhile, Herbert Lopez posted a respectable finish throughout the race, standing second place in the overall ranking under the 150 Underbone Division, only five points behind the current lead.
This winning streak of 4S1M-Yamaha Racing Team sets more determination in conquering the fifth leg of the Eneos Motorsport Championships happening on September 2 and 3 at the Batangas Racing Circuit.

STARCINEMA'S "LOVE YOU TO THE STARS AND BACK" STARTS IN AUSTRALIA AND NEW ZEALAND ON SEPTEMBER 14 via TFC@theMovies


The Philippines’ breakthrough love team of Joshua Garcia and Julia Barretto returns to the big screen for another exciting chapter of their blockbuster tandem in Star Cinema’s upcoming romantic-comedy entitled, ”Love You To The Stars And Back” screening in Australia and New Zealand starting September 14 via TFC@theMovies.

The story is centered on an eccentric and socially awkward girl, Mika (Barretto), who decides to go on a road trip with a very strange goal --– to look for aliens. In her trip, Mika accidentally bumps into a simple and good-humored boy, Caloy (Garcia), whom she chooses to give a free ride until he reaches his destination. Mika and Caloyget to know each other as the two embark on a road trip filled with adventures and misadventures. In the process, the two unexpectedly teach each other an important lesson on love and life --– one that takes most people a lifetime to learn. 


Garcia and Barretto are two of the most talented and most sought after young artists in ABS-CBN today. Their debut project as a love team, ”Vince And Kath And James”was graded A by the Cinema Evaluation Board of the Philippines and it broke box-office records in last year’s Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF). 

Garcia’s acting career on TV was propelled to heights when he became part of the powerhouse cast of the afternoon seriesThe Greatest Love. Likewise, his praise-worthy performance as Vince in ”Vince and Kath and James”earned him a Best Actor nomination in the 2016 MMFF.

KWENTONG JOLLIBEE "APO" SHOWS GRATITUDE TO GRANSPARENTS' SELFLESS LOVE


Moving the hearts of millions once again, Jollibee, in collaboration with McCann World Group Philippines, released the latest installment to the hit #KwentongJollibee series, titled “Apo” (Grandchild) in time for Grandparents’ Day on September 10.

Inspired by the unique love and care that grandparents give, the short film depicts the story of an elderly couple and their little but meaningful milestones as they happily raise their beloved grandson.


“The story of ‘Apo’ represents a powerful truth of grandparents’ special relationship with their grandchildren, and aims to remind us all of the wonderful memories with our own lolos and lolas and how they helped us in molding who we are today, especially those whom we refer to as ‘laki sa lolo or lola’, said Francis Flores, Jollibee Global Brand Chief Marketing Officer and Philippines Marketing Head. “And in true Kwentong Jollibee fashion, the short story also shows the strong connection and role of Jollibee in keeping families together and cultivating positive values.”

Directed by Ianco dela Cruz (who also helmed the “Vow” in the record-breaking Kwentong Jollibee valentine series and the 2016 Adobo Ad of the Year “Kahera”), “Apo” is a light and memorable short film that builds up to a stirring twist, like all hit and well-loved Kwentong Jollibee films before it. Since it was uploaded on the brand’s Facebook page last September 3, “Apo” has already managed to reach 17.1 million netizens, has amassed over 6.1 million views, and more than 83,000 shares.

CONVERSE PREMIERES PUBLIC ACCESS

Converse celebrates the daring spirit of today’s youth through Public Access, a show that expresses the voice and vision of youth culture. The series debuted on Twitter on September 5,, 2017.

Public Access, a creative platform for big ideas and diverse voices, brings together a community to celebrate today’s youth who are changing culture through their bold creations and storytelling. Through the mixed media program, the exceptional youth, who when given the opportunity to rise up; challenge the status quo; and plant the seeds of change gather to discuss their passions and their movements.



Miley Cyrus and Maisie Williams, symbols of today’s generatio were invited to collaborate with the brand to co-create and host their own Public Access episode.The organic format and open forum allows for the two to express themselves by engaging with their community in their own authentic way.

With the help of their friends -- a mix of artists, innovators, activists, and young visionaries – Miley Cyrus and Maisie Williams reflect on their aspirations, challenges and what in today’s moving culture matters most to them.



Miley Cyrus’ episode proves that a youthful spirit is not defined by age and features veteran women in the mix like 81-year old circus stunt performer Carla Wallenda (of the renowned Flying Wallendas) as well as a 66-year old pole dancing champion Greta Pontarell joined by her sister,Noah Cyrus; 23-year-old singer Amine; comedian Brandon Wardell; rapper and singer from Compton Buddy; and 19-year-old inventor Ann Makosinski.

Maisie Williams’ Public Access show features groundbreaking actors Millie Bobby Brown and Amandla Stenberg, along with R&B singer Syd; 17-year old Chef Flynn McGarry; and activists who are outspoken regardless of age.



Exploring tools that inspire movements, Converse  exclusively premiere the Public Access episodes with the world through streams on Twitter, bringing together the unique video series with real-time fan conversation and reaction through a Twitter timeline experience.
