ABS-CBN creates history as it breaks into EU’s mainstream film circuit via 'A Second Chance’

After two decades of delivering the best content and the brightest talents from the homeland to Europe via ABS-CBN shows and stars, the largest network in the Philippines and its international arm, The Filipino Channel (TFC) is set to create history once more as the networks break into the mainstream European circuit this December to reach more Filipinos across the continent.  


After bringing the Philippines’ biggest cinematic hits and award-winners to Filipinos in Europe via TFC and community events, TFC’s theatrical arm TFC@theMovies is raising the curtain for more Pinoy greats at Europe’s major theaters starting with the much-awaited “A Second Chance” from ABS-CBN’s movie production and distribution arm Star Cinema.

According to ABS-CBN Corporation President, Chief Content Officer and Chief Executive Officer Charo Santos - Concio, this is a milestone not only for the network and its content-creators but for the Filipinos in general.  I really hope this is the start of the engagement with the international community.” 

Santos - Concio who recently made waves as the first Filipino to be gala chairperson at the international Emmy Awards or iemmy’s in New York says, “We have great stories to tell.  I believe in the Filipino genius.  I believe in the Filipino creativity.  And I know that one day Filipino content will be as big as other content in other parts of the world.”

Starting December 5 and 6, Star Cinema and TFC will bring Philippine movies to more Filipinos as it delivers the sequel to the iconic romantic movie to kababayans all over Europe to Vue cinemas in the United Kingdom (UK) and via other major cinemas in Milan, Rome,
Messina, Padova, Paris, Madrid, and Vienna.

Vue Cinema is the third largest cinema group outside the United States.  In the United Kingdom alone, Vue Cinema has 80 cinema houses.

According to TFC@theMovies Business Unit Head John D Lazatin, “I’ve always shared that TFC@theMovies’ history is like a movie told.  We started with screenings of movies from Star Cinema and have come to produce our own that mirror the lives of the overseas Filipinos (OFs): ‘A Mother’s Story’ and ‘EDSA Woolworth.’” 

Lazatin adds, “The screening of Filipino movies from Star Cinema and key partners will open the doors for the Filipino movie-going audience.  Just imagining the likes of ‘A Second Chance’ screened alongside Hollywood movies and Bea Alonzo and John Lloyd Cruzalongside international stars confirms that the Filipino has indeed arrived.” 

“A Second Chance,” the sequel to the iconic romance film “One More Chance” tells the story of Alonzo and Cruz on to the second phase of their relationship – marriage.  While their having getting married is a product of having given each other “One More Chance,” the sequel now tells of their efforts to make their marriage work amidst the trials.

After going through questions of insecurity, individuality, and mutual growth, the iconic characters of Alonzo (Basha) and Cruz (Popoy) ask themselves if “A Second Chance” is what’s best for them.

Fellow actor, the multi-awarded Piolo Pascual who also recently made history in New York as the first Filipino presenter at the iemmy’s shares his pride in the development.  “It is heartening to know that we have this participation in the international scene.  This would open more of doors for the Filipino talent to be showcased.”

Pascual adds, “I believe we really have what it takes to earn awards and recognition here and there because of the talent and discipline.  In terms of quality, we can compare it with the international market.”

Star Cinema's "A Second Chance", a life story that is bound to forever…and ever

A movie filled with love, pain, suffering, joy, regret and of course, second chances. This indeed brought back “One More Chance” but with more maturity coming from the iconic couple. A film that will make each heart cry, melt, forgive, hope, smile and believe. It starts with a thesis that talks about marriage to a real life story that is bound to forever…and ever.


 “10.11.12.13.14. Forever and ever” is what began a movie that hit all the hearts of people who are in love, broken hearted, and those who are hoping for love again.

As a fan of the love team, I could not help myself but watch “One more chance” more than once. To find out that this chance had another one made me feel all giddy yet again. From the heated conversation trailer to another, people have anticipated this longer than we think. It has been 8 years and all of sudden, A Second Chance came out.

I must admit that I was shocked upon seeing the rumors, which turned into a real trailer then to having an official poster. All of it happening in one month made me feel that they must have rushed it or having that adrenaline rush for everyone to look forward to.

The premier night came and my heart was pounding like a mad man ( Cue in John Lloyd with Derek Ramsey scene from One More Chance) and I could not wait a minute longer. People rushing, hearts beating, fans await the phenomenal love team to walk down that red carpet. As they came, the whole Megamall jumped and shouted like they literally had given another chance. After that, we then entered the cinema.

A Second Chance was a rollercoaster ride of emotions between a married couple, Popoy and Basha. It all started out the night before the wedding. Popoy calling on Basha to meet which everyone knows that it is bad luck. As they met, Popoy decided to marry her right then and there with no wedding jitters or whatsoever. My smile literally went up to my hairline as they gaze into each others eyes. How I wish I wash Basha holding hands with Popoy by the altar. *kilig*

The movie then moved on with the wedding and the real life after the fairy tale. From “I-cannot-keep-my-hands-off-you” moments to the real world they had to face. Being an architect and an engineer is no easy job especially when you are a start up business which Popoy and Basha was able to pursue. Gonzales+Gonzales aimed for buildings they build from the ground. One client after the other, they started climbing up the ladder. Popoy became addicted to work as he wanted the perfect life for his perfect Basha.

Little did he know that his work is slowly tearing them apart. From working 24/7 to Basha staying at home to cure a miscarriage due to overwork, this led them to a rough road in their marriage. Heated conversations to misunderstandings, fights were written all over their house that it even led them to wondering why they even got married. Basha held on tight as she did not want to let go.

Nearly 7 years down the line, they were both interviewed and asked how married life was. All they could give was a blank stare and a one word answer. From then on, they felt that it was going to end. From Popoy to not admitting that they owe nearly 80 million pesos to clients due to unfinished business and stealing within the company all the way to his marriage life, it led him to depression.

Tears ran down my eyes thinking that this is going to end like a sad puppy without any home but suddenly, when an offer of going to London came in, the tables have turned. Popoy agreed to moving with his “affair” that he met in Dubai. Basha was troubled and did not know what to do. Popoy leaving will not fix the situation at all.

As another couple in their group was about to get married, Basha went to the rehearsals alone in the same church where they got married. Scenes of Popoy driving to the airport and Basha reminiscing on their marriage led to a decision that both of them had to do.  Basha could not let go of Popoy and so did he. When Basha led to the idea of calling him and telling him not to leave, her phone rang and it was Popoy. As she answered, Popoy was slowly walking towards her. Basha turned and suddenly, it was faith. The Second Chance came to life. The marriage was not yet over.

After 7 years of marriage, Popoy and Basha are now a team… for the win!

URBANIZE organized a digital amazing race at Ayala Malls Serin, Tagaytay

Urbanize conducted a special digital amazing race participated by bloggers (that includes me) who came along way from Manila to visit the newly-opened branch in Ayala Malls Serin, Tagaytay. We were group into seven and my partner Jennifer Roxas is very competitive as well heheh..Our strategy took us in second position and we bagged a Pacsafe bag yeay...We took a photo of the best international brands for tech, lifestyle, and travel accessories at various places of the Ayala Malls Serin like in the garden, coffee shop and more.

Cook Magazine Studio Kitchen

Cook Magazine, in celebrating its 15th year of publication, continues to look for ways to involve readers and evolve into a more complete experience. While sharing recipes and food finds through articles and pictures are what they’ve been doing for over a decade. Now they like to bring the readers closer to the action and actually take them along in our journeys of food discovery. 


Last year, they launched the Cook Magazine Studio Kitchen, a venue where cooking, eating and food photography all seamlessly blend. The kitchen has had a bit of a spruce up recently, with Mother’s Best sponsoring kitchen cabinetry and a new backsplash. The addition added some warmth to the kitchen and provides a space to display products like Mother’s Best condiments.



On the editorial side, they also added a couple of new sections to the magazine. Our Home & Living section contains crafts, decorating and DIY projects. The Health & Wellness section by their good friend, Dolly Dy-Zulueta features food and beverage products, restaurants and destinations that promotes well being. 


AjiPanda Best Day Ever with Kathryn Bernardo

Ajinomoto recently conducted an event titled "AjiPAnda Best Day Ever" that happen last week at Torre Venezia Suites in QC. Ajinomoto introduced AjiPanda icon, shared knowledge about umami and monosodium glutamate (MSG) and of course the renewal of Kathryn Bernardo's contract with the brand.




"Your Best Friend in the Kitchen" AjiPanda is the newest icon that will help each and everyone, specially the ones who are working in the kitchen and does wonders to make every meal delicious, healthy and nutritious. From the time it was introduced on the event, I can't help but hug it, it's soooo...cute hehe..

The event also initiated to share knowledge about the basic facts of umami and MSG. Glutamate is a non-essential amino acid that can be found in food like tomatoes, cheese and found in salt form through MSG.

The event highlighted the renewal of the Teen Queen Kathryn Bernardo with Ajinomoto. In her 4th year Bernardo is very happy the the brand always trust and help her through every step of her career in showbizness and skills in coooking.

ANOTHER Gen-S STORY: HONDA LAUNCHES THE ALL NEW HONDA RS150

Last time I have shared with you a Gen-S Story, today world’s largest motorcycle manufacturer, has recently introduced another motorcycle one after the other in our country's demanding market. A product that we all need to survive for our daily routine, especially those who have been working, out everyday and battling the daily situation on the road.

The bike design reflects aggressive new generation styling with sharp looking body and boasts attractive features from latest Super sports. The frame which holds the motorcycle was designed with high agility and safety in mind. Glad to have joined The Music Run by Philam Life that draws almost 10,000 participants

Since 2012, I've been joining fun run every now and then, because the major running events are happening in BGC which is near our place and secondly my husband love to run and finally it helps my system to de-stress. 


Recently, I joined The 
Music Run by Philam Life that happened at the Philippine Arena in Santa Maria, Bulacan. The fun run was full of excitement, great music, enthusiastic runners like me and my bloggers friends Flow and Ivan.

The Music Run by Philam Life started off with a pre-party featuring a live performance by popular Rock band SpongeCola, followed by a warm-up session led by Official Fitness Partner Gold’s Gym.

At exactly 4PM, Chief Executive Officer of Presenting Sponsor Philam Life, J. Axel Bromley signaled the first wave of runners to hit the pavements, sending an energetic crowd of Music Runners on their way through the five-kilometer soundscape. 


Our run made way all through an exciting odyssey of sound with five different Music Zones—Rock, Pop, Old School, Hip Hop, and Dance—with concert quality speakers lined throughout the entire course, immersing the crowd with great music. The course then led runners straight to the After Party, featuring local DJ Deuce Manila and DJ Sam Withers from Australia. Music Runners were treated to a spectacular fireworks display at the end.

Unlike other marathons and themed running events, The Music Run by Philam Life had no time limit, which meant no pressure for us to finish the course, allowing us to enjoy it as much as they want to and an opprotunity for us to make unlimited photo of the event, the place and the exciting happening around. Medals were given out as a reward from Philam Life to every participant at the finish line.

The runners also enjoyed a complete suite of health and wellness activities and perks from Philam Life such as financial health check and needs analysis at the Real Life Planner booth, sports and fitness challenges at the Philam Vitality area, and relaxation and wellness activities at the BPI-Philam station.
