Digital literacy is the knowledge and skills learned with the use of digital devices and services like for example smartphones, tablets, laptops, PCs and more. It is very important today, especially with the fast pace of technology and innovations. To enhance, encourage and empower more Filipinos, INTEL took the initiative to promote digital literacy nationwide.
INTEL Philippines partnered with Asia Society for Social Improvement and Sustainable Transformation (ASSIST), the Foundation for Information Technology Education and Development (FIT-ED), and the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), to promote digital literacy and device ownership through DigiBayanihan and DigiBuy.
DigiBayanihan is a nationwide digital literacy initiative to touch/teach, train, and transform individuals and their communities. Launched in 2014 and aims to promote the use of digital devices through comprehensive digital skills training. More than 4,000 individuals and 20 partner organizations volunteered to be "DigiBayanis" to facilitate training and outreach initiatives that have touched 1,690,763 individuals on the impact of digital literacy in their everyday lives.
On the other hand, for the individual to own digital devices, a device acquisition platform called DigiBuy is initiated to provide individual or trainees a maximum productivity and access to affordable digital devices. Together with organizations like National Confederation of Cooperatives (NAATCO), Philippine Society of IT Educators (PSITE), and Technical Vocational Schools and Association of the Philippines (TEVSAPHIL).
Beneficiaries of DigiBayanihan program can avail of the platform through the DigiBuy page in Lazada, starting September 1, 2015.
