OKGo! Australia rouses thousands in TFC’s two-city celebration of the ‘galing ng Filipino’


Pinoys in Melbourne & Sydney came together and sang with Zanjoe Marudo, Beauty Gonzales, Kakai, Aiza Seguerra, Angeline Quinto and Erik Santos at TFC’s two-day entertainment fare


While set apart by Australia’s massive terrain, the Filipinos “Down Under” came together for The Filipino Channel’s (TFC) second installment of the much-anticipated OK Go! Australia on September 18 and 20.  TFC roused thousands of Filipinos at the Planetshakers Centre in South Melbourne and the Rosehill Gardens Raceourse in Sydney with exciting Kapamilya stars bringing a two-day, world-class entertainment extravaganza that engaged kababayans to a veritable sing-a-long.
“2015 OKGo! Australia,” the second installment in TFC’s series of blockbuster events for kababayans in Australia, engaged over four thousand Filipinos in Melbourne and Sydney with hours of world-class voices and exciting performances of Original Pilipino Music (OPM) hits and classics; mainstream international hits; the latest dance craze and pure Pinoy fun.


According to Asia Pacific Managing Director for ABS-CBN Global Ltd. Ailene Averion “Last year, TFC celebrated 20 years of service to Filipinos worldwide.  This year’s OKGo! Australia continues to be a showcase of Filipino talent, our kababayans’ fondness for entertainment and the Pinoy’s unique bayanihanspirit wherever in the world they may be.”

Highlighting TFC’s poste event is “Dream Dad” love team Zanjoe Marudo and Beauty Gonzales singing a string of OPM hits such as “Kapag Maputi Na Ang Buhok Ko” and “Pusong Bato.”

Thrilling the audience even more was when host and “Your Face Sounds Familiar” star Kakai Bautista pulled out three ladies from the audience to join Marudo for an on-stage contest where Marudo then proceeded to serenade the winning contestant with “Hinahanap-hanap Kita.”

Raising the entertainment level was Queen of Teleserye Themes Angeline Quinto singing fan favorites such as “Anong Nangyari Sa Atin” and King of Teleserye Themes Erik Santos singing his classics such as “This is the Moment” and his own version of international hit “Titanium.”

Turning the concert into a veritable sing-along was Aiza Seguerra who performed her biggest hit “Pagdating ng Panahon” to which Filipinos from all walks of life sang along with.  Seguerra also performed her own version of OPM rock hit “El Bimbo.”

Sealing the entertainment fare on both the Melbourne and Sydney shows was the cast’s performance of “Good Time” which pretty much sums up what the TFC event was all about –pure fun and world-class entertainment with Kapamilyas.
According to Averion, the audience response may have not come as a surprise but the feedback was rewarding.

Averion shared “We were challenged with the fact that Filipinos here are from distant areas and it will take them one good reason to pull out of their daily grind and come together as one community.  I see now that when you give them a good show, they will reward you with a kind of response that validates all the hard work we put into setting up One Kapamilya Go!”  Averion added, “Our Kapamilyas joined the performers as they sang along to each song; danced to each hit; laughed to the stars’ banter; and celebrated togetherness with fellow Filipinos.”

Averion ends, “Our kababayans’ reception inspires us to raise the level of our entertainment offering for Filipinos in the Land Down Under.  With this, Kapamilyas can expect more from TFC in the years to come.”

The COOK Magazine's Editor-In-Chief, Chef Dino Datu together with Chef Winston Jerome Luna of Caterer and Event Specialist, showed and shared tips and expertise in cooking by demonstrating their own version of Asian Fusion Dishes. Chef Datu made Black Pepper Crab, Singapore Chili Prawns and Easy Claypot Rice, all using Mother's Best products.



On the other hand, Chef Luna cooked Oriental Wings with Chinese Greens and he also took chance to shared his knowledge to the students by having a seminar on what it takes to be successful in food related ventures.

Moreover, the culinary competition started, the students is grouped into five with two members, which cooked a course meal (Appetizer, Main Course 1 and 2) using Mother's Best Barbeque Marinade, Mother's Best Hot Sauce and Mother's Best Oyster Sauce. They used stoves provided by Fujidenzo and cooking implements provided by Masflex.

'LIMITLESS' Premieres September 23 on RTL CBS Entertainment

This year's much awaited television series, LIMITLESS premieres September 23 only in RTL CBS Entertainment, the channel that offers balanced mix of reality, drama, comedy and more. The new action-packed drama series will air every Wednesday, within 12 hours of its U.S. broadcast.


Limitless is based on the feature film with the same title, in which Brian Finch (Jake McDorman) discovers the amazing power of the mysterious drug NZT. Discover the power of drug and the study of NZT, together with Agent Rebecca Harris (Jennifer Carpenter).

Johnson & Johnson (Philippines), Inc (JJPI), in partnership with the Philippine Medical Association (PMA), recently introduced a new/novel factbook that discusses key issues surrounding the current state of pharmacological interventions.

Titled Pharmaceutical Insights for the Well-Informed Clinicians, the factbook has been designed to enable healthcare professionals make informed decisions in the selection of medicines. The factbook reveals the lifecycle of a drug and the many facets surrounding drug development, manufacturing, supply chain and drug product regulation, among others. The book has been developed in alignment with the principles of medical ethics and all other activities related to therapeutic interventions.



For years, JJPI has remained steadfast in the service of patients by providing innovative quality medicines for their treatment. Committed to help further improve the country’s healthcare system, the company recognizes that the success of pharmacological intervention largely depends on the integrity of the processes that a medicine goes through from the time of manufacture to its use by the patient as intended in its regulatory approval.

At Johnson & Johnson, patient well-being is at the forefront of everything we do. The factbook is intended to assist doctors in making an informed decision in the choice of the most appropriate medication for the patient,” said Mr. Wigbert Funtanilla, Hospital Channel Country Director of JJPI.

In order to prevent unnecessary suffering by patients and to decrease the financial burden brought about by the adverse events related to medicines, it is essential that all healthcare workers should be the frontliners in advocating pharmacovigilance by reporting all suspected cases especially when the reaction is unusual, potentially serious or clinically significant,” said Dr. Minerva Calimag, President of the Philippine Medical Association (PMA).

A case in point, she said, is a doctor monitoring an adverse drug reaction (ADR) case and submitting a report to the hospital and FDA, keeping in mind that this simple act of pharmacovigilance can improve the practices related to drugs within the hospital and most importantly, can save the life of the patient.

During the launch event, PMA President Dr. Minerva Calimag, Department of Health Assistant Secretary Paulyn Ubial, and Dr. Suzette Lazo, former Philippine FDA director, were on hand to shed light on drug regulation updates and understanding the importance of drug development and utilization at the bedside, respectively.

Because of its importance in the clinical practice of the doctors, the factbook will be launched as part of the on-line module of the Philippine Medical Association for their On-line Web-based Learning Partnerships for Medical Advancement (OWL@PMA).

REBISCO Combi World's Biggest POPulation Song revealed

Who would have thought that with a combined sounds from unrelated things like kitchen utensils, clicking cameras, clapping, roaster sounds and more will make a biggest pop song.


Last June 5 to July 25, Rebisco Combi encouraged people join the Combi World's Biggest POPulation Song,  in which they will send in video sound clips according to the weekly themes. The best video clips were given a Humlan headphones from Urbannears and of course included in the Combi World's Biggest POPulation Song.
The result was overwhelming. In just over a month, more than 500 video sound clips had been received, comprising a wide range of interesting and creative sound bites from sources ranging from household items to animals and even body parts.
Bloggers, media and participants of the promo gathered together at the URBN Bar & Kitchen in Bonifacio Global City to have a first hand (ears) experience with the result of the chosen video clips. We all had fun and witnessed the launch of the Combi World's Biggest POPulation Song. The sounds are well combined and the beat is so POP :)


The lively host Alodia Gosengfiao introduced and instructed all listened to the performance of Buganda Drumbeaters and popular electronica maven Kat DJ and of course to party all night long hehe :)
The fun that people had during this event just goes to show how unusual things can be combined for an amazing result. In that way, it was just like Combi, in which crackers, wafers and filling or cookies, wafers and filling are combined for a snack that is truly amazing and definitely delicious!

"ASAP 20 Live in London" draws 10,000 to The SSE Wembley Arena, inspires huge Filipino community in Europe

British music journalist Kate Mossman in her acclaimed BBC rockumentary, "Stadium Rock at 50" mentioned that "big concerts should be emotional, almost spiritual events which lift you beyond normal life for a few hours."


But for the 10,000 mostly Filipinos who saw the Philippines' longest-running variety show, ASAP 20 Live in London, last September 6 at The SSE Arena Wembley, a venue that has played host to the world's biggest acts - the likes of The Beatles, Rolling Stones, U2, Barbra Streisand, David Bowie, ABBA, The Cure, Madonna, Britney Spears and Beyonce - the experience was much more profound than fleeting escapism.

Consider this stirring and heartfelt thank you message to TFC from First Secretary and Consul Voltaire Mauricio of the Philippine Embassy in London:
"It was my first time to watch a variety show live. It was my first time to see ASAP. It was my first time to set foot at Wembley. It was my first time to sit at the very front row of a big concert. At the September 3 press conference for ASAP 20 Live in London held at the Hotel Novotel London Wembley which was livestreamed on TFC Live in U.K. and TFC.tv worldwide, Martin Nievera said, "Everyone is saying that what we are bringing is world-class entertainment. But don't forget that it's you, the Filipinos abroad, who are world-class that's why you're here and we're reaching out to you."
