Contiki , a travel company that offers fun, learning, adventure and challenges for those who love to travel and environment. Contiki Holidays brought 12 Storytellers or young travel adventurers from around the world ages 18-35's, to Costa Rica in order to enjoy, explore the place and be with the environment that they truly love.
One of them is our very own model-TV host and actor Mikael Daez. They've experience a VIP conservation trip based on Contiki’s Costa Rica Unplugged itinerary. Mikael is with his brother and videographer Nicky Daez.
Mikael Daez undaunted by huge Costa Rican bug
For two nights in Tortuguero, the storytellers will team up with Céline and the STC to track leatherback turtles and protect their nests from poachers in the area. When they’re not protecting the majestic endangered turtles, the storytellers will be experiencing all that bio diverse Costa Rica has to offer in true Contiki fashion – zip lining through the rain forest, rafting through the rapids, taking a dip in the hot springs and touring the canals in hopes of spotting some of the beautiful wildlife native to the area.

‘The trip was great! We spent our first few days in the turtle conservancy centre, and the staff gave a detailed explanation about their programs which was definitely an eye opener. The icing on the cake though was the first hand experience of seeing turtles lay their eggs which as a highlight of the trip. As for Celine was great to be around. There really are people who have such a positive energy about them, and Celine is one of those individuals. She has been my source of inspiration after having shared much during our conversations. But above all, the week in Costa Rica has been insanely exciting and I’m definitely looking to pay it forward. I’m feeling so proud to say that I’m one of the Contiki Storytellers.’ said Mikael.

The travel company promises to sponsor a turtle in Costa Rica once the video reaches its viewing target of 250,000.
