When I enter blogging, I get an opportunities far from a simple life that I have before, which is home and work (nurse) almost everyday, but now I get the chance to go on beautiful places, meet many people and become more aware/updated of what is happening around. But the most important is to extend my advocacy in helping people, because recently, I get the chance to volunteer again for Habitat for Humanity Philippines, my first is about a year (story HERE) and now at their first Bloggers' Build for 2014.
Early in the morning last Saturday, me and four of my co-bloggers join the Habitat For Humanity Bloggers' Build together with the Habitat Asia Pacific, some donors and employees. The build highlight the Habitat's effort in re-building Philippines alongside with a commemorative build for one of Habitat's volunteer who join the Creator - Hanzel Sarceda.
We arrived at the Bistekville I, Payatas Quezon City around 9AM, followed by the Construction & Safety Orientation and Warm Up activity. All are excited and eager to help that day, evident on each volunteers geared-up ready from gloves, paint brushes & rollers.
We painted almost 18 units of Bistekville I, who houses the 40% of public school teachers and 60% less privileged families that is the priority of Habitat. We've also seen some of the residence in the village and how they are taking care of the home Habitat given to them.
More so, the family of Sarceda graced the turn-over of one of the house to home partner Mr.&Mrs. Franco. Ribbon cutting headed by the Habitat leaders Charlie Ayco and Rick Hathaway. Almost all are in tears-of-joy when the Habitat handed the key of the new home Franco Family.
I truly had a meaningful Saturday, it is always fulfilling and satisfying to help and lend a hand into the people in need. Thank you Habitat for Humanity Philippines for another opportunity to help. Until our next Habitat adventure guys :), will share more of it on the next months. You can join us and help spread the advocacy by following their Facebook/HabitatPhilippines and Twitter/HabitatPhils.
