In its continuous mission to uplift the global image of the Philippines and boost local tourism in the country, The Miss Tourism World Philippines Foundation, Inc. proudly announces the hosting of its pageant, dubbed as a contest with a big difference, Miss Tourism World Philippines 2014 to showcase the natural charm and beauty of a Filipina, while promoting the country’s various cultural assets and scenic attractions.
Perhaps the first of its kind in the beauty pageant industry, Miss Tourism World Philippines 2014 is where the official candidates can already feel that they are all winners as each will be involved in performing socio, civic, economic and humanitarian activities in the home towns. And as candidates, it is also their duty to help promote tourism as “Ambassadresses of Goodwill” in ways that may spur economic growth prospects for their respective regions.
One major factor in becoming a candidate is that interested applicants must not have joined any national pageant yet. Miss Tourism World Philippines 2014 hopes to start fresh with hopeful individuals driven by their ambition and genuine interest in helping not only themselves but also their fellow town folk and are passionate in making a difference starting with their hometown.
Official candidates will be part of history, as the Guinness Book of World Records is set to witness this record setting pageant. And to further the candidates’ interest and confidence in carrying out their missions in their hometowns, major sponsors are to provide opportunities in which could be life changing event for them. There will also be ten (10) coveted crowns which entitle them to compete in ten (10) international pageants representing the Philippines.
The pageant is already endorsed by the government through the Department of Interior and Local Government with Secretary Mar Roxas at the helm. Its Memorandum Circular 2014-37 dated March 18 2014, specifically aimed at reinforcing the noble deeds of the reigning beauty queens through the amity and hospitality, with combined selfless and services to the community, that will help promote tourism and harness socio-economic growth of the locality they are representing.
The City of Laoag headed by its beautiful mayor, Hon, Chevylle V. Farinas met with Brother Jojo Ruiz to signify their full support of the pageant. They are to start preparations to be a contender for the Best Philippine National Costume. As she stated, the prize money for this is not as important but the prestige it will bring to their city.
It is because all two Hundred (200) official candidates will have a chance to partake in a series of fashion shows abroad starting in the USA to be organized to promote not just tourism but showcase the talent of the designers of a particular city, municipality or province as well. Not only will the City Mayor support the pageant but the foundation’s many activities such as the One Year Tourism Campaign Project.
Preliminary Screening of candidates is scheduled on May 3-4 at Alphaland Mall EDSA, Makati from 1-6pm. Final Screening is on May 10, 2014 at Jackmann Building, Muñoz Quezon City from 1-6pm.
The main national pageant will be held at the SM Mall of Asia Arena, Pasay City and will be telecast on a special date.
