On its 11th year, TAYO Foundation gives recognition and empowering youth to be a nation builders and with the support of Coca-Cola Philippines for almost nine years, the has been maintaining its goal for the youth.
Last February 6, the 2014 Ten Accomplished Youth Organizations of the Philippines has been awarded which was held at Malacanang Palace. Attended by 20 Finalist, Coca- Coca Philippines President and General Manager Guillermo Aponte, Secretary to the Cabinet of the Philippines Jose Rene Almendras and members of the press.
These are the list of ten winners that also received 50,000Php cash grant from Coca-Cola Foundation Philippines and sculpted trophy made by renowned Filipino sculptor, Toym de Leon Imao:
1. Break The Silence Network Project by Gualandi Volunteer Service Program (Visayas)
2. Disadvantaged Urban Youth Entrepreneurship, Organic Vegetable Production, Food Processing and Marketing by Association of Locally Empowered Youth-NM (Mindanao)
3. Langoy Para Sa Kaluwasan by Hayag Youth Organization (Visayas)
4. Kawil Tours-Reconnecting Isla Culion through Tourism" by Kawil Tours (Luzon)
5. DISATER RISK REDUCTION ADVOCACY PROGRAM - Empowering the Youth in Building a Resilient Disaster Community by Tanay Mountaineers Incorporated (Luzon)
6. Financial Literacy for Youth Program by TC Youth Laboratory Cooperation (Mindanao)
7. ESDUDIO DAMGO -DUNGGA DAYCARE CENTER by United Architects of the Philippines Student Auxiliary - Foundation University Chapter (Visayas)
8. Break Realizing Dreams through Education; Building Hope through Small Acts of Love by Tulong sa Kapwa Kapatid (NCR)
9. Developing Ocean's Man-Made Eco-Friendly Shelters (D.O.M.E.S) by Volunteer Service Provider (Mindanao)
10. Bridging The Gap (BTG) by University of San Carlos- Pathways (Visayas)
Coke Barkada Award was also given to the one of the finalist namely Team BUNDOL Mountaineers for their EcoTrek project, as they embody the true Coke Barkada qualities, always sharing happiness and changing the community.
I also had a chance to talked to the representative of one of the ten winners. Kevin S. Colina of BTG and said "We're very grateful to be given an award and support by private sectors like TAYO Foundation and Coca-Cola Philippines, so that we can always continue to help students to be ready for college in between the summer vacation after high school"
"We were doing this for more than 5 years and we will never get tired of helping the youth specially the ones who are willing to help themselves. I am one of the beneficiaries of BTG and now, I am a graduating student and volunteer to the organization honed me to the value of education" Kevin added.
