Cherie Gil as the fashion doyenne Diana Vreeland in FULL GALLOP

My Own Mann Productions, Inc. and Actor’s Actors Inc. proudly announce its offering for March 2014 with “ FULL GALLOP ” a play about fashion doyenne Diana Vreeland.

FULL GALLOP portraits a remarkable woman Diana Vreeland, who stood at the center of American style for five decades. Editor of Harper's Bazaar and Vogue magazines, and a member of the International Cafe Society, Diana chronicled the extraordinary people and events of her time. Written by Mary Louise Wilson and Mark Hampton.

The one-woman play is set in August 1971 at Diana Vreeland’s Park Avenue apartment. She has just returned home to New York after four months in Europe --- a trip she took after being fired from Vogue magazine. She throws an impromptu dinner party in the hope that a wealthy friend who is invited will bankroll her in starting a magazine of her own. Other friends, however, attempt to persuade her to take a job at the famed Metropolitan Museum of Art. In her distinctive style, once she decides in which direction her life will move, she goes at it "full gallop. "

Cherie Gil is Diana Vreeland, she lends her range and patrician demeanor to the woman who was a major force in shaping culture, style, taste and even language for all time. In a play that is both funny and poignant, FULL GALLOP explores the brilliance of a woman at a crossroads, for whom life can only be lived as a constant parade of adventures.

Cherie Gil first made her name in what are now cinema classics from the 80’s such as Peque Gallaga’s “Oro, Plata, Mata”; Elwood Perez’s “Problem Child” and Emmanuel

Borlaza’s “Bituing Walang Ningning”. She then moved on to television, starring in countless TV series, specializing in playing villainesses and strong-willed women.

In the 2000’s, Cherie discovered the stage and surprised the theater-going public with her versatility and technical proficiency. She essayed such roles as Sister Aloysius in John Patrick Shanley’s “Doubt”, Lilline La Fleur in Kopit and Yeston’s musical “Nine” and Maria Callas in Terence Macnally’s “Master Class” for which she received numerous citations for her vivid and unforgettable tour de force performance. Truly a consummate tri-media artist/personality, Cherie has recently produced her first movie, “Sonata”, directed by Peque Gallaga.

Co-presented by Inquirer Lifestyle, Look Magazine, and The Peninsula Manila in cooperation with Antonio’s Tagaytay, Facial Care Center, The Love Garden, Businessworld, HerWord.com, WhenInManila.com, and Rappler.com, FULL GALLOP is set to open with a gala night premiere on March 14 with regular performances on March 15 and 21 at 8:00 p.m. and on March 16 and 23, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. (matinee) at the Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium, RCBC Plaza, Ayala Avenue corner Sen. Gil Puyat Avenue, Makati City.

FULL GALLOP will have the special participation of Ms. Giselle Tongi. The creative team of FULL GALLOP is composed of Bart Guingona (Director), Joey Mendoza (Set Designer), John Batalla (Lighting Designer), Rajo Laurel (Costume Designer), and Ruben Nazareth (Hair and Make-up).

The creative team for the FULL GALLOP photoshoot are Joan Bitagcol (Photo), Sandy, Higgins, Mark Higgins, Michael Salientes (Styling), Mark and Sandy Higgins (art direction), and Fanny Serrano (Hair and Make-up).

FULL GALLOP is presented by special arrangement with Josef Weinberger Plays Limited, London.

For the March 14 gala night, ticket prices are at Php3,000 orchestra center; Php2,000 for orchestra side and loge; and Php1,000 for balcony inclusive of cocktail food and wine provided by Antonio’s Tagaytay. Part of the proceeds from this gala event will go to Virlanie Foundation’s project of building houses in Negros areas that were affected by Typhoon Yolanda.

Red Turnip's "COCK" will be staged at Whitespace starting March 7

Do you ever think, what happens when a young gay man falls in love with a woman? What went right or wrong behind the happenings? What will each party do to succeed?

From Red Turnip's first theatrical play "CLOSER", to this season, on its second offering "COCK" by Mike Bartlett they promise to be more intimate and engaging. In 2009, "COCK" in London is always a sold out hit specially on its premiere.

A story that revolves around a gay couple whose rocky relationship derails when one of them sleeps (and falls in love) with a woman. Debates over one’s sexual identity explode when all three decide to sit down and “duke it out” over dinner. Hilarity ensues when another unexpected guest turns up and loyalties are put to the test. As one character puts it, “It’s the ultimate bitch fight”.

In the Philippines, Red Turnip promises another hit theatrical experience in COCK. The vision of five established actors (Ana Abad Santos, Topper Fabregas, Jenny Jamora, Cris Villonco and Rem Zamora), Red Turnip aims to engage theatergoers with the sort of material that seems to be in short supply in the country—the straight play.

A directorial debut of Rem Zamora, which promises to be more intimate this time by using the Hall A of Whitespace. COCK also plays in the round so it feels like you’re watching a fight in an arena—no frills: just words and pure conflict in the ring, and an intense involvement in the audience.

Cock assembled a tight cast like Topper Fabregas/John (Boeing Boeing, The Producers), Niccolo Manahan/M (Next Fall, Doubt), Jenny Jamora/W (Mind’s Eye, A Little Night Music), Audie Gemora/F (Sweeney Todd, Les Miserables).

COCK is a comedy… with bite. No props, scenery or furniture. Just actors, sharp dialogue and some clever staging. All essential. Absolutely Red Turnip.

Cock is supported by Fila, Whitespace, Gung Ho Films Manila, Bose, National Book Store,

Powerbooks, When In Manila, and Radio Republic. BusinessWorld, and HerWord.com. The food-and-drinks concession is provided by Speakeasy. Tickets to the Feb. 28 opening gala sponsored by Fila are available through Red Turnip Theater only.

Directed by Rem Zamora, technical direction and lighting design by John Batalla, set design by Denis Lagdameo and sound design by Jethro Joaquin.

Cock will be staged at Whitespace — 2314 Chino Roces Ave. Extension (formerly Pasong Tamo Extension), Makati — on March 7, 14, 21, 28 and April 4 (Friday, 9 p.m.); March 8, 15, 29 and April 5 (Saturday, 8 p.m.); April 5, Saturday at 4 p.m.; March 9, 16, 23 and April 6 (Sunday, 4 p.m.) and special closing gala on April 6, Sunday, 8 p.m.

Tickets are available through TicketWorld (891-9999 or www.ticketworld.com.ph)

highlights of the 60th Year Friendship of Philippines and Germany

This year marks the 60th Year of Friendship between the Philippines and Germany. To celebrate the six decades of diplomatic relations, the Germany community held a two-day festivities in Bonifacio High Street virtually brought Germany to Manila.

As I joined the festivities on its opening day February 22, Saturday, I had a chance to experience the true German Diplomatic day. As it dubbed the "Mabuhay Germany" theme, the whole vicinity of Bonifacio High Street was surrounded by German food, products, beverages and booths wherein you can learn their language, culture and way of life.

They also conducted a program in which Geothe Institut Philippines hosted the panel discussion, more about language and studying opportunities. The visitors and students from the institution learn a lot about the session.

At night the party started with exciting rock music for the "Groovy Doovy Germany Night" that featured Authority Band and DJ Papi, of course what a better way to enjoy it, is to drink with German beer.

The event was not only for sausage lovers and beer drinkers but mostly for children who enjoyed the "Kids Activities" area. An area where they play and met new friends.

I never had a chance to visit the next day but I'm sure the people had an enjoyable and knowledgeable day like I do.

Review: Star Cinema's "Starting Over Again"

Last week I had a chance to be one of the chosen bloggers who had opportunity to interview the director, writer and casts of the latest offering of Star Cinema - Starting Over Again. The bloggers conference happen at Star Cinema office in ELJ Building, ABS-CBN Compound and yesterday I watched the film with my best friend at SM Megamall.

When I had a chance to ask my three prepared questions, I did it with confidence but immediately broken it when eys meets Piolo's hehe...

1. For Ms. Carmi Raymundo (screenplay), as the writer of the film, what is your inspiration or reference in making the story?

There's is no one in particular, basta inisip ko lang na lahat naman pinagdadaanan ang mga nangyari dito and from that yun yung naging inspiration ko. About ex-gf/bf, moving-on and starting again.

2. For Inang (director Olivia M. Lamasan) , what comes first the story or the casts?

In this case ang casts ang nauna and binago din namin ang original story because hindi na bagay sa kanila ang material na nasa akin. Matagal ng hinantay ang movie for Toni and Piolo at this is it.

3.For Piolo, how much of Piolo in the character of Marco

Ang hirap i-quality nun, i guess you should have to know your character, trust the character and of course the director. I trying to be the character every time I am doing the film and vice versa.

Then last night me and three of my best friends had a chance to watched the movie by availing the last slots we can had at SM Megamall because we saw online that Ayala Malls cinemas are full.

I really wanted how Inang shows the reality of the story, in every move and words that the characters says, you'll always think that yes, this is happening, this happen, not only in your life but also in your friend or in one way or another.

I can say that Ginny is really a Toni Gonzaga, from the way she talks, walks and gosh, every time she cries, I think a pale is not enough for her tears (buhos talaga) galing...

Well Piolo is Piolo, as he answered in my interview I can only think of one thing "nasabi nya kaya ito sa tunay na buhay", because he delivers every line spontaneously eh..

This weekend I have a date again with another batch of friends and guess what watching Starting Over Again is in the list hehehe..

Definitely, a must watch movie of Star Cinema a well written movie with excellent execution from beginning to end, different emotions can be felt, as if your riding a roller coaster at the comfort of your seat. Very kilig ending...basta you should watch it..naka SMILE kapa din before you left the theater hehe..:

PARADIZOO: Power Of Three Festival, Tagaytay

Tagaytay is one of the places, I go to, if I want to relax and unwind. Cold wind, fresh air and a complete variety of restaurants where you can dine and relax in different hotels available around. But there's a lot of interesting and educational places Tagaytay has to offer especially for family and barkada who want to learn at the same time gain memories that only Tagaytay can offer. Two of which are under Zoomanity Group, the PARADIZOO and RESIDENCE INN Tagaytay.

Recently me and my blogger friends were invited to the launch of Paradizoo: Power Of Three Festival. As we were fetched at Yupangco Building, Makati City headed by Ms. Grace Nicolas of Zoomanity Group and also served as our tour guide, a two-hour drive to Tagaytay gave us an opportunity to rest and get ready for the activities ahead.

We arrived at Paradizoo around 9:30AM and we were welcome by the staff with smiles, a dog named Sexy who sits very sexy indeed and a glass of cold and refreshing taste of lemon grass concoction.

Paradizoo:Power Of Three (floral, vegetable and agri-livestock) Festival, people have the opportunity to explore the floral or flower collection within the vicinity, taste the wide variety of vegetable around and learn to live the farm way with agri-livestock animals.

Then we get the chance to interact with animals at the Animal Farm area. We of course took pictures of them and with them, the basics of farming like goat milking, feeding and more. Parade of animals was fun and enjoyable, specially for the kids and kids at heart like me hehe :)

After which, we went to Flower Garden and saw familiar ones, but the most interesting is how the flowers bloom so beautifully at cold weather. Flowers are more vibrant and blooming, more so the arrangement at the flower garden are perfect, as if your walking down the aisles and your prince charming is waiting at the end of it :)

Our journey at Paradizoo: Power Of Three continues at the Vegetable Farm where kinds of lettuce are grown. You can also harvest your own and avail veggies in a very affordable prices (and I bought for my husband, of course). The area also places the Wedding Pavilion and Boot Camp which is available for all kinds of events.

Then we visited also the Butterfly and Honey Bee Farm and learn more about them. The butterflies are a little bit shy to be with us as they are enjoying flying around instead (well that's their natural habit). On the other hand, bees are confined in a box busy making honey because we learn that summer (harvest time) is near, but the excess honey at the farm is also available for sale especially at harvest season.

After our Paradizoo adventure we went straight to Residence Inn, which houses the animals like snakes, birds and more. Some of my blogger friends tried the Zip Line and Cable Car which is a must try at Residence Inn. We enjoyed the place for almost two housr but I think it's not enough for me so I have to go back soon. They also have rooms available if you want to have total relaxation or stay a day or more, with a perfect view of Taal Volcano and lake.

These are the schedule that we should be in mind, if we want to go at Tagaytay particularly at Paradizoo and Residence Inn or visit their website for updates www.zoomanity.com.ph or call 899-9828 or 08.

Horse Parade/ Animal Parade - January 11 to March 2
Livestock Festival - February 15 to February 22

***WAIT, Since it's a power of three, i'll be giving away three (3) Free Entrance tickets good for two (2) at Paradizoo and a 50% OFF Entrance at Residence Inn with FREE shuttle  (Paradizoo-Res Inn) .
