Marriott Hotel Manila's Spirit To Serve

Part of Marriott Hotel's Global Customer Appreciation week, Marriott Hotel Manila spent time at the Philippine National School for the Blind (PNSB) located at Pasay City. Fun filled activities like feeding, games and more are shared by the students and Marriott's Sales and Marketing Department brilliant hosts.

Marriott Hotel Manila's "Spirit To Serve" is this year's project to give back to the people and shared the blessings they had for a year. Working doesn't mean going to the office and targeting sales everyday they also share the hard work with people in their community, their gesture of giving 'Thanks'.

Arrived at the PNSB around exactly 2PM, we saw how excited the students and teachers of the school. Started the program with a prayer, sang "The Prayer" by the students followed by the production numbers like Ballroom dancing and more. Games made the room more fun and exciting.

Then the giving of linens and eating utensils are facilitated by the Marriott Manila's Sales and Marketing executives and employees. Not only that they also visited the girls dormitories to put the new bed sheets and pillow cases. I'm sure students who are stay-in will be happy comfortable and happy.

I am so happy to witnessed this cause by the Marroitt Hotel Manila and I am happy to know that this will not happen once but they will continue to make their community happy as long as they could.

the three Filipino representatives to the Axe Apollo Global Space Camp

After almost eight months of selection process, the three-man delegation of our country for the Axe Apollo Global Space Camp namely Daniel Angelo Roque, Evan Rey Datuin and Ramil Santos are ready for the next level - Astronaut Training.

Astronaut training at the Axe Space Camp in Orlando, Florida involves simulation space flight and real astronaut training. They will be joining hundreds of chosen participants from more than sixty countries and their representatives. They will all compete with 23 tickets to space- one of which is reserved for the best out of the three Filipino hopefuls.

From Left Chino, Ramil and Evan

The Filipino representative should not only ready and prepared physically but also psychologically and spirituality. I think they should be holistically ready because the qualification and screening for the space trip is really tough.

The Athlete Daniel Angelo "Chino" Roque is in lieu of Air Force Lieutenant Mario Mendoza, Jr, the one who withdraw from the competition to serve his military duties. He is a Psychology graduate and a football player of De La Salle University Manila. A 22 years old man working as a marketer and fitness coach.

The Everyman Evan Rey Datuin studied at De La Salle University Dasmarinas. A 24 years old man who emerged victorious from competition as one of two finalist from more than 28,000 applicants in selection process.

The Destined Dreamer Ramil Santos is the winner of the Axe Apollo Hyperdrive Promo, an electronic raffle ran by Axe to select a wildcard candidate for space camp. A 29 years old man who also joined the Axe Apollo National Challenges but did not pass the top two. An engineer with a Masters in Electronics and Information Engineering from South Korea.

11 newly graduates of Philippine Academy for Aviation Training

For 11 young gentlemen, finishing the much coveted type-rating course for the Airbus A320 aircraft is a fulfillment of their youthful dream to fly a big commercial aircraft. After all, Airbus is one of two commercial planes most used the world over.

The graduates, front row : left to right, Farzad Ghasemzadeh, Barry Goesaert, Joao Dias, Felipe Alves, Michael Dos Santos, Erik Odegard. Back row:  left  to right, Dino Tabingo, Khedel Tan, John Gulla, Nuno Alves, Peter Binamira

The eleven ended their A320 type rating at the Philippine Academy for Aviation Training (PAAT) with the commencement exercises held at the PAAT in Clark last Sept. 21. After all of them successfully passed their check rides, they now form part of Cebu Pacific’s stable pool of pilots for its fleet and route expansion programs.

The graduates were: John Gulla, Khedehl Tan, Dino Tabingo and Barry Goesaert from the first batch; Michael Dos Santos, Erik Odegard, Joao Dias, Felipe Alves and Nuno Alves, from the second batch and Peter Binamira and Farzad Ghasemzadeh from the third batch. Together, these three batches received their certificates of completion during the formal graduation ceremony.

At the “send-off” graduation last Saturday, Barry Goesaert, who was in the first set to apply for the A320 type- rating course, expressed excitement, a sentiment shared by his peers, about finally being able to sit in the cockpit and be in command of a plane that carries hundreds of passengers and tons of cargo. Before, he only flew single engine cargo planes during his basic pilot training course.

The half Filipino, half Belgian Goesaert, who spoke on behalf of the graduates, said a recent study on Pilot-Technician Outlook showed that Asia Pacific region would need 192,000 pilots, the most in the world from 2013-2032. “And this is where we are!” he exclaimed.

Considering the heavy demand for pilots today, it is a very opportune time for aspiring pilots here and around the region to have “the best Airbus Type Rating Training Organization, i.e, the Philippine Academy for Aviation Training, giving us the best preparation for the real world,” Goesaert said.

“Whether we come from the Philippines, Norway, Portugal, Iran and that small country, Belgium, all of us trainees shared a common dream to become an airline pilot. The PAAT family helped us realize our dream. We all now work for Cebu Pacific. Everyone here at PAAT and not to forget the HR department of Cebu Pacific was extremely helpful,” he further said.

According to Capt. Jim Sydiongco, Vice President for Flight Operations of Cebu Pacific, who was among the VIP guests at the graduation ceremony, Cebu Pacific would need much more pilots for 2014 alone to service its increased fleet, flight frequency and routes here and abroad.

PAAT Head of Training (ret) Capt. Ronaldo Mendoza challenged the graduates to “go the extra degree” to make it big as pilots as he stressed that Cebu Pacific’s approach is to “hire for attitude and train for skills.”

John Gulla, another graduate said he was able to enroll at PAAT because his parents had long prepared for it. He took his initial flying lessons after taking a college degree on Aerospace Engineering in London and then his single-engine flying course was in the US.

He said he could have stayed and continued training in the US but he chose PAAT because of the “opportunity to work with Cebu Pacific after our type rating course and successful check rides,” Gulla said. For him, PAAT was his only choice for type rating because everything from training manuals, the course syllabus and the instructors were all standardized by Airbus, which is the manufacturer of the Airbus A320, the most widely used aircraft in the world. .

Asked whether they have plans for another training facility in the Philippines, CAE’s Asia Business Leader, Tom Ferranti said the PAAT center is the only CAE training center in the Philippines with room to expand by the addition of more simulators and additional training programs.

No doubt, a type rating course can be expensive, but the returns and rewards are worth every cent, as the PAAT graduates can attest to. But students can get a loan from a bank by getting themselves pre-qualified for employment in an airline such as Cebu Pacific with the employment commitment as among the collaterals.

Aside from being assured of world-class quality training, one advantage of taking the Airbus type-rating at PAAT is that the trainees already have one foot in the door of Cebu Pacific which makes banks more comfortable to grant loans, said Arvi Perez, General Manager of PAAT. He stressed however that aside from Cebu Pacific, PAAT also offers its training services to all other domestic and foreign airlines.
PAAT has two Airbus A320 Level-D full flight simulators and one Airbus Pilot Transition Trainer (APTT) in its brand new two-storey training center at the Clark Freeport Zone. Two more simulators will be deployed in the future for a total of 4. The training centers also has 1 Computer-Based Training (CBT) room, 6 classrooms, 10 briefing rooms, 2 APTT rooms, a pilot lounge and a cafeteria.

LG debuts commercial laundry products in the Philippines

Global technology innovator LG Electronics heralds a new era for commercial laundry as it launches a new family of coin, card, and on-premise laundry solutions in the Philippines.  This new line-up of commercial washers and dryers incorporates innovative and convenient features as well as strong performance in energy-efficient, durable designs.

Reliable, energy-efficient

Laundry facility owners are assured that LG’s commercial laundry products are long-term solutions. A key reason for this is the Inverter Direct Drive Motor, which eliminates the usual belt and pulley within the machine, lessening vibration and noise. This increases durability and significantly reduces maintenance costs.

Being ENERGY STAR qualified, this new array of commercial offerings also saves on energy and water usage costs.  With LG’s inverter control system, the drum of the washer runs at a constant speed, reducing wasted energy from continuous speed fluctuations.

Intelligent

Ideal for college dorms, apartment buildings, coin-operated, and on-premise laundry venues, LG’s versatile washers and dryers are stackable, fitting interchangeably in the top or bottom position.

LG’s AdaptAble™ Control allows property owners and building managers to put the user controls at either the top or bottom of the unit, so both panels can be at eye level on stacked units.  For additional flexibility, the dryer door is reversible without extra parts.  This means that the machines can adapt to the owner’s space, rather than the space needing renovations to accommodate the machines. Offering owners even more design choices, LG’s commercial laundry units are available in a variety of colors including red, white, and gray.

Additional innovations designed to help owners provide a worthwhile customer experience include:

·        An embossed inner drum, enabling more contact with fabric for great wash action and stain removal.
·        A NeverRust™ Stainless Wash Tub, eliminating the likelihood of paint chips entering the wash cycle and rust staining fabric during use.
·        Dual Lock System, LG’s double locking system for the front panel and coin vault access provides increased security.
·        Smart Tub Cleaning System, keeping a clean tub even in the busiest locations.
·        Streamlined Design, captivating people with Tempered Glass and chrome door

LG’s commercial laundry partners in the country are ELS Philippines, which provides the total solution and service of Commercial Laundry Business, and Bigwash Company, which initiates and offers the Coin Laundry System.

Judy Ann Santos-Agoncillo for "Bet On Your Baby" starts on Saturday October 19

The Queen of Pinoy Soap Opera, Ms. Judy Ann Santos-Agoncillo returns on TV as she host the newest, cutest and exciting TV game show "Bet On Your Baby". From the successful hosting of the recent “MasterChef Pinoy Edition” and "Junior MasterChef Pinoy Edition,"  that recognized and achieved awards like Anak TV award, Judy Ann once again will make our day complete with “Bet On Your Baby”.

Bet On Your Baby is a program catered for families that test and strengthen the bond between parents and their offspring 2-3 years old. I'm sure Judy Ann will be an effective and perfect host for this show as she herself is a hands-on mom for Lucio and an ideal wife for Ryan.

Recently, we visited the set of the new TV show and we saw how exciting the show is. From the concept of connection and understanding between parents to child, the show will prove how both side understand each ability.

The game show has three rounds (initial challenge, puzzle and jackpot) which three sets of families (parents and child) will undergo, the first round is where one parent from each family will be the decision-maker, guessing whether or not his or her child will be able to accomplish a given task along with the other parent inside a separate room called the “Baby Dome”. The winning family in this round will win or awarded with P10,000. Second challenge is about using wit and speed to solve a puzzle, for them to qualify on the jackpot round that can win at least 50,000Php to as high as 1,000,000Php.

This romantic film is included in Star Cinema's 20th Anniversary presentation. Before the movie become more interested the "Girl In The Rain" video which was release, a month before the official trailer of the movie, became viral which added more curiosity to people.

Recently, a separate bloggers conference held at Wangfu, Tomas Morato QC and the director, writers and casts of the film. The first one is with the director, writers, Bea (Kat) and Liza, then two days after is with director, writers, Dingdong  (Wacky) and Enrique.

The movie is a romantic kind of film, a love story that will once again, and i'm sure, will be remembered for years. But we ask the panel what was their perception about love.

"Ang love or romance is a feeling na hindi mo napaplano, that's why it's so exciting, based on my personal experience with Z, we started as friends, but hindi kami dumaan dun sa part na ligawan and until now it's working, so para sa akin masasabi ko, maganda talagang friendship ang foundation ng every relationship" Alonzo said.

"For me love is a defining human experience but not necessarily romance, it could be any kind of love but not only romance" Valdez divulged.

The award winning writer Ms. Vanessa Valdez shared how hard it is for her to do Rom-Com films "It's so hard for me to craft a rom-com, I am the one more on sa drama and the like eh, pero pag sa akin napunta or gumagawa ng rom-com dapat kilala ng babae yung sarili nya, ikanga self possessed sya, kasi para handa s'yang mag show ng love sa iba effectively. So for me love is a bonus, not the objective pag gumagawa ako ng film for rom-com particularly"

As a woman, I personally like Ms. Vanessa because she always showed how women empowered in her movies "Personally hindi ako attracted sa babaeng laging nakatanghod sa lalake, tapos kaylangan mapansin sya ng lalake, nagpapa cute sya, sa akin hindi, for me kasi mas interested ako sa babaeng akala mong ordinaryong babae lang pero habang tumatagal yung kwento nakikita mo yung galing nya, nakikita mo yung lakas nya" Valdez added.

Remember the viral video "Girl In The Rain"?, they shared story behind the making it which shows how independent woman is and for Ms.Valdez, this is the way or the best way for them to show the independence of a woman (Kat, Bea's character) instead of the usual engine checking.

Direk Mae Cruz, Bea Alonzo and Liza Soberano

"We made it for two nights, because it's so difficult to shoot sa rain and fortunately the second night is actual talagang umulan, kasi may bagyo nun eh. Madugo sya talagang eksana that's why we prepared hard for it and it was a big set-up but pag makita mo sa screen yun lang pero it was a big set-up talaga, tapos naturally wala talagang ilaw sa lugar na yun so we need a better lighting, Thank you to Dan Villegas at kaylangan din sa rain para yung dumi mabura" direk Mae shared.

This is the first time Bea and Dingdong partnered together and Bea said that Dingdong is very mature in terms of making a movie "Magaling talaga si Dong at matalino ang dami nyang alam sa mga bagay-bagay" [Laughs] "at isang natutunan ko pa sa kanya ay ang maglagay ng alkamporado lalo sa rain scenes, tapos nung one time medyo natagalan kami mag take, ang init pala nun sa katawan [Laughs] kaya hindi ko yun makakalimutan sa kanya"

We really had fun talking to the casts and team of She's The One, I learned a lot especially from Ms. Vanessa Valdez (sarap nyang pakinggan magsalita palagi). And of course to the rest of the team, that's the reason why, I am more excited to see the film. To know more about the real identity of the "Girl In The Rain' and the way each and every character find their LOVE !!

Unfortunately, I can not shared anything about the second bloggers conference because of the terrible traffic on the Metro due rain (#chos). I arrived at the last two question for the casts heheh...sorry po (Chichay style). But I took some photos of them for you guys posted on my page HERE.

Please do follow me on Twitter @ning4u, for your questions to the celebrities, because I am usually included on the list of bloggers conferences of the latest films and TV series. Thank you !!

The big Broadway musical “THE PRODUCERS” is finally in Manila

In celebration of its 46th year, Repertory Philippines proudly announces the last production for its 76th theater season with THE PRODUCERS, the hilarious Broadway musical based on the 1968 Mel Brooks film of the same name.

Written by Mel Brooks and Thomas Meehan, with songs arranged by Glen Kelly and Doug Besterman, the original Broadway production of THE PRODUCERS (which opened at the St. James Theater on April 19, 2001 and starred Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick) won an unprecedented 12 Tony Awards, running for 2,502 performances. It spawned a successful London production running for just over two years, US national tours, many productions worldwide, and a 2005 film version.

THE PRODUCERS is about two wily theatrical producers who cook up a scheme to get rich by overselling interests in a Broadway flop. The humor of the show draws on ridiculous accents, homosexual stereotypes, and Nazis, along with many show business in-jokes. It is a satirical comedy that is deep enough for both insiders and outsiders of the theatre industry.

To be directed by Jaime del Mundo, the Manila premier of THE PRODUCERS will feature top caliber actors CARLO OROSA and ROBIE ZIALCITA alternating as Max Bialystock, the beleaguered producer facing bankruptcy, who woos little old ladies into backing his shows.

TOPPER FABREGAS takes on the role of Leopold “Leo” Bloom, a cowardly and infantile hapless accountant who first has the idea to produce a flop on purpose.

Media icon G TÖNGI will tackle the role of Ulla, a blonde Swedish bombshell who auditions for the show and becomes Max and Leo’s secretary/receptionist.

Actor-director JOEL TRINIDAD plays Franz Liebkind, a former Nazi whose play is chosen by Max and Leo as a definite flop.

Stage and screen veteran NOEL TRINIDAD (Joel’s father) takes on the role of Roger De Bris, the flamboyant homosexual cross-dresser chosen to direct the show. He will be alternating with role of Roger with one of the icons of Philippine musical theater AUDIE GEMORA.

Versatile actor NOEL RAYOS will take the role of Carmen Ghia, Roger’s “common law assistant.”

The ensemble is composed of Nelsito Gomez, Steven Conde, Tristan Cheng, Jay Pangilinan, Chino Veguillas, Leroy de Guzman, Natalie Everett, David Shawn Delgado, Liesl Batucan, Mica Pineda, Shalee Vicencio, and Gemini Quintos.

Co-presented by the City of Makati, THE PRODUCERS is full of irreverent humor and show-stopping musical numbers, and is a must-see for all theater- and comedy-lovers.

"Six Attitudes for Winners" a book by Norman Vincent Peale

With the continues changes that is happening around us, together with it, are the various problems which sometimes we could not afford to loose ourselves and find way to solve whatever it is. Help from family and friends are the best way of conquering troubles in life, but sometimes you could solve it by reading and handling right books that will accompany you to the right path for to be called a winner.

From the author of the international bestseller “The Power of Positive Thinking” comes a little book that contains more wisdom than you might think.

Norman Vincent Peale provides the secrets of a winning attitude in “Six Attitudes for Winners". Using the practical help from this little pocket book you can learn how to face fears, confront worries, solve problems, put excitement into your life, throw away personality crutches, and anticipate the future.

Here’s what people say about “Six Attitudes for Winners:

This book is truly packed with so much helpful information. Don’t let the size of the book fool you. Although it is pocket size, it is jampacked with so many lessons for all to lead their life by.” –Monique Nunn

Dr. Peale’s ability to put a lot of valid, life-changing material in a small book is demonstrated eloquently in this work. He wastes no words in getting straight to the point of how to improve your life. The first attitude he addresses is to approach problems from the proper perspective, i.e., not from the mindset of a victim, but of an over-comer! Problems are temporary. They help mold character.

We’re reminded of ultimate reality as Dr. Peale writes, “in the last analysis, only the God-directed life can attain true and basic success.” The work ethic is stressed also. These truths are doable, time-tested, and not bound by any culture. They work if you work them.” –Dr. W. G. Covington, Jr.

Frustrated, depressed, hopeless, need guidance, this book is for you!” –SCP Brother Salvatore
