This June, the first ever Mr & Ms Chinatown Philippines will be air on ABS-CBN. The Miss Chinatown Foundation together with ABS-CBN will redefine Filipino-Chinese beauty as it meets two cultures, artistic goals and way for better business relations.
Recently, bloggers had a chance to meet the 32 Filipino-Chinese candidates at Sincerity Cafe and Restaurant at Lucky Chinatown mall in Binondo, Manila. The place dominated with beauty and glamour when the female candidates arrived. Candidates had a one-on-one interview with the bloggers and for me is candidate number 8, Samantha Jade Dy.
Samantha Jade Dy, a 23 years old pure Chinese and had years of experience in modeling and pageants, that made her more confident on this competitions.Jade shared that most of them audition through Carousel Productions since late last year. Aside from beauty, Jade also took Fashion Design in College of St. Benilde and she owned a nail spa business at IL Terrazo QC, like any other Chinese, business is their training ground to gain success life.
Aside from Jade, I had a chance to interview John Christopher Sy. John shared that there were lots of activities which they took and learn like Chinese language lessons and visiting different institutions for courtesy calls "Natutuwa po ako sa mga nagiging activities na'min like the lessons that we took for us to enhance our language" John said.
The male candidates are Oliver Chen, Glenn Choa, Sydney Du, Gerald Magante, Miguel Lasala, Alvis Lim, Jaime Lim, Randy See, Bruce Sing, John Sy, Arthur Tan, Fredrick Tan, Jerome Tan, Sky Yang, Francis Yao, and JP Yap.
Watch out for the Grand Coronation Night of Mr. and Miss Chinatown Philippines 2013 at the Newport Performing Arts Theatre on June 30, and will be telecast live on ABS-CBN.
