DSWD's "Bawal Ang Epal Dito" Launch in Carcar City Cebu

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)'s "Bawal Ang Epal Dito" campaign poster was unveiled last February 23, 2013 at Landbank Carcar City branch in Cebu. Spearheaded by DSWD Secretary Corazon 'Dinky' Soliman, the event was also attended by National Project Manager Director Rodora T. Babaran, DILG Under Secretary Bimbo Fernandez, and DSWD Field Office 7 Regional Director Mercedita Jabagat.

Sec. Soliman stressed the importance of information dissemination regarding the "Bawal and Epal Dito" project, especially amongst the Pantawid Pamilya beneficiaries, so as to protect them from deceit and false promises. "Walang ibang makakatanggal sa listahan kundi kayo, DSWD lang po ang nagdadagdag kapag kwalipikado" Sec. Dinky said. She added that the project is also about "Katapatan ng mamayan at katungkulan ng pamahalaan."

For his part, DILG Usec Fernandez said, "The DILG will be more vigilant and watchful for those who will abuse the Pantawid Pamilya beneficiaries.

Bawal Ang Epal Dito's main goal is to protect constituents from abusive and manipulative politicians who might use DSWD's "Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino" (DSWD-PPP) program, especially this coming elections.

DSWD-PPP is a continuous program which aims to provide conditional cash grants to impoverished Filipinos. It is vigorously implented in almost 1600 cities nationwide and Carcar City is one of them, with almost 4000 household beneficiaries.

After the unveiling of the "Bawal Ang Epal Dito" poster, button pins for the project were distributed together with the payout for Carcar City beneficiaries.

Press and online writers witnessed firsthand how the DWSD-PPP monthly payout distribution is done. The beneficiaries gather together under one roof and fall in line properly for faster and easier processing of their transactions. This regular activity is carried out  nationwide with the help of Landbank and Philpost.

I admire DSWD's leadership and the department's team effort in their heroic mission to improve the quality of life of every Filipino, especially those living below the poverty line. "Bawal ang Epal Dito" is  another project that proves DSWD will always be in the front line when it comes to protecting the disadvantaged segment of our society.

There is no question in my mind that I will always wholeheartedly support DSWD on every step of their journey. I hope you guys can do the same. Their current project will not only empower beneficiaries but most of all, like I said before on my last post HERE: "It ensures that the voting populace can not and should not be unduly influenced by wayward politicians and electoral candidates". Always remember BAWAL ANG EPAL DITO.

FILA Polo Cup 2013 Goes Brazilian Carnival

Last year, I had a chance to watch the Fila Polo Cup held at Manila Polo Club, the grandest sport, celebrities and food are presented. For this year's salute to 2013 the much anticipated event is once again successful with a theme Brazilian Carnival. Happen last February 10 at the same venue as last year with a game Low Goal game at 2:00pm, the High Goal game at 4:00pm, and the festivities at 6:00pm with more glitz than ever before.  Hosting duties are in the capable hands of Brazil-born actor and FILA endorser Fabio Ide, with entertainment to be provided by Guarana, the Escola de Samba de Manila Dancers, the Maracuja Dancers, and Talentadong Pinoy Hall-of-Famer Astroboy.

Brazilian Carnival comes with an emotion, color, atmosphere, and sheer over-the-top joyous celebration, there’s nothing that beats the Brazilian method.  This is a perfect welcome for FILA’s bigger direction in 2013, a new era for the brand that features innovation while still taking its cues from a rich and storied past.  FILA is the oldest and wisest of the brands, and throughout its history, it has stayed true to boldness, color, and design.

Fila endorsers grace the event, including Fabio’s fellow FILA endorsers Georgina Wilson, Borgy Manotoc, Tim Yap, and FILA’s first couple, the ever gorgeous president and CEO of FILA Philippines Cris Albert, and husband and company chairman Butch Albert who also happens to be celebrating his birthday on this month of hearts.

The event is full of entertainment which has been prepared to bring the concept to its full.  Guarana is the country’s leading proponent of traditional and authentic Bossa Nova and Samba.  The Escola de Samba de Manila, founded by the same minds behind Guarana, has taken unto itself the task of bringing Brazilian Carnival to the event with their bright, festive colors and infectious, pulsating rhythms.  This is as close as we can get to an authentic Mardi Gras festival without leaving the country!

With Astroboy's fiery display of fierceness and fabulosity the crowd is not disappoint of what they expected .  He is Manila’s premiere hoop artist and a Talentadong Pinoy Grand Champion, as well as a Hall of Famer from 2011 to 2012.  Astroboy is largely self-taught, learning the art of the hula-hoop in Paris, and honing his talent as part of the New York-based troupe The Gyronauts.

New brands and new lines equal a new level of excitement for FILA die-hards and those just discovering the marque.  The revamped range includes sport and lifestyle masterpieces for everyone.

FILA Everest – The old adage goes “tough times never last but tough people do,”.  Everest is a no-nonsense brand that believes in dreaming big and doing big.  It is built for those who lead the extreme active lifestyle, who regularly tread on the cutting edge, the nature adventurer; yet it remains comfortable, allowing more freedom of movement without sacrificing durability.  Lightweight but protective, Everest shoes are designed to meet the performance needs of the adventurous.

FILA Outdoors – More than a brand, Outdoors is an answer to a question.  It is a response to one of the deepest and most basic of human needs, the desire to bring back the simple joys and pleasures of childhood.  It is the direct result of the blood that runs through our veins, and the revolutionary return of the Pinoy.  It is what FILA consumers want and need.

FILA Tiva – The Heart of Tiva is escape, a yearning for love, light, freedom.  It is for the girl who takes the road less traveled.  The Soul of Tiva is the mantra “follow the light.”  It represents a new lifestyle and culture that loves the open sea, freedom, and nature.  It follows alternative sports like surfing, diving and kiteboarding, but with less emphasis on performance and more detail on the soul.

FILA Freestyle – A new hyper brand forged by the classic timelessness of FILA Vintage and the irresistible call of FILA Outdoors.  A brand full of strength and personality, it screams youth at its prime but reflects a respect for the classics.  Freestyle is for the Old Timeless, Livewire, Agro, Emo, Creative fun-seeker.  Freestyle is anything but shy.

FILA believes that sport is an artform, a combination of beauty, luxury, and passion, form and movement.  Sport can be viewed as a painting in a gallery or a ballet in a theatre.  Sport is inspiring and inspired.  As a company founded in Italy, FILA, more than anyone, recognizes the art of sport, the importance of design, and the feel uniquely tied to it.

Fila shops are located at the following branches:  SM Mall of Asia, SM Megamall, SM Cebu, Ayala Malls Glorietta, Ayala Malls Trinoma,  Ayala Malls Pavilion, Ayala Malls Market! "EyeBags" Campaign for School Children

The Philippine Academy of Ophthalmology (PAO) has recently organized “EyeBags,” a campaign that seeks to support the education of students from underprivileged families through the donation of various school materials. Incorporating ‘green’ into the advocacy, eye doctors from all over the Philippines have committed to donate hundreds of unused bags from medical conferences that they attend every year.

“These convention bags are highly functional.  Instead of throwing these away, we thought of engaging all the eye doctors who are members of the PAO to donate the bags and reach out to Filipino school children in need of support. The project has grown tremendously that we have expanded to donating other school materials to help promote and enhance students’ learning experience in their schools,” shared Dr. Johann Michael Reyes, PAO Committee Chair for Public Relations.

This year, volunteers from  the  PAO and graduates from Xavier  High School, Class of  ’82  trooped to  Paraway  Mangyan  Elementary School in Puerto  Galera,  Oriental Mindoro to distribute bags, school supplies, clothing  items and teaching materials that will benefit both students and teachers.  “We believe that education is one of the best ways to change society. With this project, we endeavour to help instil hope in the hearts of Filipino children, one Eye Bag at a time,” Dr. Reyes said.

The PAO accepts donations through its secretariat. Individuals and organizations may contact PAO at 813-5318 or send their donations to Unit 815 Medical Plaza Makati Condominium, Amorsolo corner Dela Rosa Streets, Legaspi Village, Makati.

The PAO is an internationally-recognized specialty society of ophthalmologists in the Philippines. It aims to ensure access to quality eye care for Filipinos. The PAO commits to continuously develop its members professionally through clinical education, research and practice management, in a collegial and harmonious environment, contributing to ethical, professional and compassionate practice. Cosmetic Acupuncture For Age Defying Beauty

Chinese royalties secret regimen to have a flawless beauty is COSMETIC ACUPUNCTURE, it is an ancient medical therapy using needles to prick crucial points in certain parts of the body, treating specific health concerns at its root cause, maintaining one’s health and preserving or keeping that much sought after ageless beauty. Since acupuncture does not require surgical intervention, it’s also popular among Celebrities of the Western world as part of their regimen to delay the physical manifestations of the natural aging process.

Dra. Anjeli Sta. Teresa initially trained in Dermatology, Cosmetic Surgery and Geriatric Medicine (Diseases of Aging and the Aging Process) here in the Philippines. After her training in traditional Chinese Acupuncture at the Ospital ng Maynila, she trained in Cosmetic Acupuncture in Beijing, China and in the United States of America. In her clinic, she applies the Chinese, French and US techniques of Cosmetic Acupuncture on her clients as she sees fit.

Cosmetic Acupuncture, apart from its healing characteristic, can stimulate the human body to produce collagen and growth hormone, natural substances that help keep the skin as well as the body young and beautiful. As a person ages, the production of these two age defying substances normally decreases. Locally, the procedure stimulates production of both substances within the area of therapy, removing wrinkles and improving the skin’s quality and tonicity in the process.

The procedure has been shown to lift the face, neck, eyebrow, bust and even the abdomen. It balances the distribution of energy flow, keeping the body in  good health. A change in the client’s lifestyle, especially the diet, goes hand in hand with Cosmetic Acupuncture.

Essential Elements of "Apoy Sa Dagat"

Fire, water, light, and wind are elements of Mother Earth which are essential for mankind's survival and existence. Omit any of these elements and we will surely disturb the equilibrium that allows man to live a quality life. But what if you combine all these elements in one television series? Wouldn't it be interesting to watch how the interplay of these elements affect the lives of ordinary mortals?

Primetime Bida has come up with one such series, something which Pinoys would appreciate, even those with zero knowledge on which elements are needed for survival or what. I am talking about "Apoy sa Dagat", a television series now gaining ground in the ratings game.

Recently, I was included on the list of online writers who were given the opportunity to interview the creative force behind "Apoy sa Dagat". In a way, they are comparable to the essential elements of nature. The directors, writers, production staff, and the actors are basic components of any TV show. Take away any part, and the project would crumble. "Apoy sa Dagat" is no different. In fact, the cohesiveness displayed by all the members of the show heightened the role of each unit in the creative process.

Direk FM Reyes, Direk Nick Olanda, Sir Henry Quitain, Sir Arden Condez and some of the production staff were present on the bloggers' conference held at the 13th Flr. ELJ Building, ABS-CBN Compound on January 9. All of them are not simply proud of the "Apoy sa Dagat" team but are also genuinely happy and satisfied to have such  talented and hard-working people in one project. From actors and actresses like Angelica Panganiban, Piolo Pascual, Diether Ocampo and Angel Aquino, down to the cameramen who all willingly and regularly soak half of their bodies in the water for hours just to capture those stunning but realistic shots- each one epitomized dedication to their respective crafts.( For a moment there, i reminded myself to quit thinking about Piolo and Diether half naked at sea. Yummy!)

photo credits to Aki of bitsofrock.blogspot.com

"Apoy sa Dagat" showcases the exemplary performances of its stars like Angelica and Angel who portrayed their characters perfectly. Direk Reyes stated, "In the case of Angelica, who played twins that grew up in different environments, she really differentiated her characters' individuality. Parang automatic na sa kanya."

Popular hunks Piolo and Diether also played out their roles to a T. In all, the directors have nothing but praises for all the protagonists of the series, reiterating every now and then the performers'  seamless executions of emotions that need to be rendered in each scene.

The staff and crew are the number one fans and critics of the series themselves, Direk Reyes further  revealed. "Pag-nag tetake kami, lahat focused on what their individual duties are. But after the take and for the preview, lahat sila nasa likod ko at may kaniya- kaniyang opinyon at hahanga ka sa mga sinasabi nila. Minsan tulala at tahimik, yun pala affected na," Direk Reyes elaborated.

Although each one gives their best every taping day of "Apoy sa Dagat" in either Manila or Batangas, time for relaxation and bonding is an integral part of their daily grind. Camaraderie thrives especially during the time which most of us consider as a ritual of survival but which some consider as mainly social, that's none other than  my favorite sosyalera habit - EATING!

"Mahilig kami kumain at ang niluluto namin ay yung nabibili sa locality, like fresh fish from fishermen sa madaling araw," direk Reyes said. As I am writing this, I think I should have asked Direk Reyes right then and there if they still have an opening for a production assistant. Hehe.

I am sure you have already seen samples of  how they perfectly stitched this TV series.  The first few episodes give you a taste of more exciting and also more complicated scenarios in the coming episodes. I am 101% confident that you will get more hooked to the series when the main characters journey into  adulthood, since that's where you will see the true meaning of " Apoy Sa Dagat".

Add more color and thrill to  your nights the cheapest way ever (Wahaha!), make it a habit to watch "Apoy sa Dagat" every day from Mondays to Fridays after " Ina, Kapatid, Anak" on ABS-CBN Primetime Bida.

Jump In Bash for Jessica Sanchez by SMART

Last Monday, I am very happy because I was invited to attend  Jessica Sanchez's SMART Jump In Bash press conference (presscon) held at Skydome, SM City North EDSA . Though it is Monday which conflicts to my time of work, I didn't hesitate to ask my superior and she is happy as I am and allow me to go, because she likes Jessica also.

She arrived right on time with her five inches stilletos and a beautiful smile. Though I expected her to sing the 'Jump In' song after the song's video and before she was introduced, I am contented to see her and her charming smile every time she answers to the press.

The SMART's Jump In Bash is SMART Communications treat for Jay (Jessica's nickname) and her friends and supporters, especially the BluJays (Jessica's fans) which I am sure enjoyed that day. I just followed them on Twitter after the presscon because I have to go back for work.

Jessica Sanchez Valentines Day Concert in Manila is also supported by SMART. I am very excited for tomorrow's concert that will happen at SMART Araneta Coliseum. With her is Colton Dixon, co-American Idol Season 11 finalist.

The Prince of Teleserye Theme Songs 'BRYAN TERMULO' in His 1st Major Concert

Bryan Termulo known as 'The Prince of Teleserye Theme Songs' made hit songs that maintain drama series of our country more memorable and relatable. Bryan having great voice, good looks and pure heart, nothing can stop him from stardom, especially now that he'll be having his first major concert.

A bloggers conference happened recently at Insomia Bar Quezon City for Bryan Termulo's upcoming concert on March 9 a day after his birthday to celebrate his existence with his friends and supporters at the Music Museum 8PM entitled "Bryan XXV Termulo".With special guests Liezel Garcia, KZ Tandingan, Bugoy Drilon and Melai Cantiveros.

Bryan welcomes bloggers with a song 'Dadalhin' from the phenomenal TV series 'Walang Hanggan' which he also got his biggest break in the industry. Bryan didn't get through, an easy way. From the time he enters the entertainment industry back in 2007, joining Pinoy Pop Superstar Year 3, Bryan never fails to give all of his heart to make people entertain by his singing (SOP) and even acting (as Dino in All My Life).

Bryan being a Kapamilya makes him more visible because he continues singing and acting and become an ASAP 2012 mainstay every Sunday and sang theme songs of the famous TV series since then.

Now he shared that he is very excited at the same time pressure because this will be his first concert, but he is thankful for all the blessings thrown his way. "First love ko talaga ang singing, so in celebration of my birthday with this concert, I am giving all it to them and maybe may konting dancing din" Bryan said with his boy next door smile."But don't expect too much sa dancing ha, i don't really into dance..dance..but I know how to move" he added.

Bryan also shared some things people around him didn't know or notice. He always left or misplace his things like his cellphone. The thing that drives me crazy is when he said that he cannot go out wearing an eyeliner in his eyebrows, "Sobrang manipis kasi ang kilay ko, so pag walang eyeliner as in parang wala talaga, so nasanay na ako maglagay since then palagi para okay" Bryan shared with a bog smile.

Bryan also loves to travel a lot especially in the Philippines (Its More Fun In The Philippines indeed) most of the time with his family, "When me and my family travel in Coron, that's the most significant travel for me, but lahat naman memorable, maganda lang kasi ang Coron sobra" Bryan said with an excitement to go back there again.

Bloggers really enjoyed that night with Bryan because he shares so many things and I can feel that he loves bloggers also, even in twitter (@bryantermulo) once we tap him he always response immediately especially around 10PM-12MN hehe.. and not only online writers but mostly to his friends and supporters who wishes him good luck everyday.

Thank you so much to LionHearTV and Pinoy Magazine for inviting us, in my case for the 2nd time to be meet and greet Bryan. Bloggers Conference also brought by BWB Records and Music Production Inc., Erase Placenta, Lifeline, Cetaphil, Skechers, SOLO, Star Magic and Tambayan 101.9.

"They're Playing Our Song" Is Perfect For Valentines Day

Saturday February 9, my blogger friend Jude, invited me to a musical comedy 'They're Playing Our Song' of 9 Works Theatrical at Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium, RCBC Plaza Makati City. I was home already from work when he texted me, but since it's near my place and I like to watch a play, I immediately prepared my stuff and took a cab.

'They're Playing Our Song' is a romantic comedy musical from Neil Simon's book which is based on the real-life relationship of Marvin Hamlisch and Carole Bayer Sager, who made the music and lyrics of the play, respectively. It has the complete ingredients that will make for good entertainment- great music, funny and witty dialogues, and a delightful love story.

The main characters in the play are Vernon Gersch and Sonia Walsk who were brought together to make a perfect song, but didn't notice that in the process their lives were slowly interwoven in love despite each other's glaring disparity in character and attitude. Such opposing personality differences create funny situations that makes the play as lively and vibrant as can be. Vernon's simplicity versus Sonia's colorful staff and then Vernon's aloofness and focus contrasted with Sonia's disorganized and distracted behavior make the play a study in contrasts, too. How the two reconcile with a kiss is a cause for wonder but at the same time is a wonderful example of how love conquers all.

Nikki Gil as Sonia dominated the stage with an inspired 70's fashion and with her beautiful voice especially when she sings 'I Still Believe In Love'. Likewise, Lorenz Martinez as Vernon, delivers the sophisticated type of man yet showed clearly how he fell in-love with Nikki's character. I also liked their so-called inner voices which added to the comedic touch on the stage and which were played by Anna Santamaria, Jill Pena, Peachy Atilano, Reb Atadero, Noel Rayos, and James Stacey. Everytime they pop up on stage, I can't help but laugh.

9 Works Theatrical brings 'They're Playing Our Song' to Manila and will run from February 9 to March 3, 2013 directed by Robbie Guevara. 9 Works Pit/Pop/Philharmonic Orchestra (9PO) featuring songs like 'Fallin' and 'I Still Believe In Love'.

Coco Martin & Julia Montes 'A Moment In Time' Showing on February 13, 2013

Last Tuesday February 5, the grand press conference of the movie "A Moment In Time" was held at Dolphy Theater ABS-CBN Compound. The casts of the movie arrived altogether like Ella Cruz, Joseph Marco, Cherie Gil, Gabby Concepcion and of course the lead stars of the movie Coco Martin & Julia Montes and the movie director Emmanuel Quindo Palo.

We've seen Coco&Julia bloomed together at the TV series 'Walang Hanggan', as they say goodbye TV now they will continue their love at big screen with their first movie together that was shot in Amsterdam and other part of the romantic city of Paris.

Coco & Julia shared their experiences on the movie and Coco said with a cute smile 'Lahat na binigay ko para sa movie na ito, pati kaluluwa ko itinaya ko'. I'm sure by now, you've watch the trailer on TV that Coco dances so sexy and that's I think one of them, which Coco 'Itinaya' hehe..They also shared that they have a kissing scene in this movie, so we should all watch for it.

Since Julia will be turning 18 years old next month March 19 and Coco is the first choice as his escort, she turned red when all teases her to ask Coco in that moment "Indi ko pa nga po sya na ask personally hehe..Baka maudlot" Julia said. I really like Julia's feminine yet dominant type of woman. I'm sure Coco will answered a resounding yes if that happens and they can also have "A Moment In Time" moment for sure hehe..

The movie will start on February 13 in all Cinemas nationwide, a perfect moment with your love ones for Valentines Day and include watching this movie as you celebrate. Produced by Star Cinema.

The Pop-Rock Princess Yeng Constantino and Her New Album "METAMORPHOSIS"

Metamorphosis is said to be a biological process or development from birth to immaturity, that's how Yeng Constantino define herself  for having the latest album entitled METAMORPHOSIS. "I think, I am out of my box and living my life to the fullest, which we all should do sa guidance ni Lord, what ever He wants in our life sundan mo lang" Yeng said.

Like Yeng's previous hit albums, she pour a lot of time and effort to make it great, but her latest album is more dynamic as she is right now, I am sure you noticed and she started the year with vibrant red hair.

The Pop-Rock Princess Yeng Constantino composes all the songs in this album and even she took almost two years to complete them due hectic schedule, she manages to made it successfully.

In fact, she will be launching her carrier single "B.A.B.A.Y." in ASAP today so watch out for it and did you notice the music video wearing kitty head bands and colorful staff? All of those had a significant value with Yeng. For example the address (Block ) is Yeng's real home address in the past, kitty head bands bacause she really like cats and the colorful things around it shows the new Yeng right now, vibrant and dynamic.

Other 10 tracks  of the album includes 'Chinito' (written by her bestfriend Jed Dumawal) which she dedicates to her crush and will do the next music video soon, 'Hahanapin Kita' (for her friends), 'Messiah' (for Lord), 'Josephine', 'Teleserye', 'Pasensya Na', 'Pag-ibig', 'Sandata' (for Lord), and 'Di Pa Huli'.

Metamorphosis is now available in all record bars nationwide it was produced by her music mentor Raymond Marasigan under Star Records. You can also download it from www.mymusicstore.com.ph and iTunes.
