Last Saturday June 2, 2012, the usual crowd of Greenbelt 3 has change into more fun and excitement. I was invited to cover the event, but when I was in the area which is in the Activity Area of Greenbelt, I don't know how to start and where do I stay because the crowd which turned into dancers is scattered around. I just noticed that it was them because the one who portrays grandmother or "Lola" is at my side.
This flash mob is a collaboration of Department of Health, Fitness First Philippines and supported by UNO Magazine and Hubo Productions which launches
various health awareness programs to support the Department of Health’s
campaign on fitness and exercise. Spearheaded by DOH Asst.
Secretary Dr. Enrique Tayag and Fitness First Retropop instructors
and approximately 250 members of Fitness First – Retropop group held a surprise
flashmob entitled “Dance for Life”. Popular tracks from 70's (September), 80's(Head over Heels) upto today (Louder,Domino and Dance Again) were played and the group dance their heart out.
After the flashmob, they conducted a press conference at Cerveseria, Greenbelt and UNO Magazine Managing Director and co-organizer of the flashmob Maan Ilustre explains that they call it "Dance for Life" because Retropop(popular music of that particular decade) not only make our body healthy as well as our mind and spirits. Managing Director of Opal Investments Ida Tiongson is the one who conceptualized the said flashmob as she made also at Dubai Airport which you can view on Retropop Facebook page.
Its really fun to watch the execution of the participants that day even the DOH Secretary himself joined the flashmob and he really dances very good. I want to participate also on this kind of campaign. Hopefully the next event I will hehe...I wanna dance, I wanna join, I want Retropop and I wanna "Dance for Life".
This project is also supported by Condura,
Flawless, Buddy’s Pancit, Izod, Summit Mineral Water, Nestle Cereals, Hurom
Juicer and Gardenia.
