Experience and Celebrate Philippine Fiesta at Bayview Park Hotel for Kulinariya Festival 2012

Bayview Park Hotel Manila once again supports and joins the annual event that showcases food specialties from different regions in the country. KULINARYA FESTIVAL is a joint project of Department of Tourism (DOT) and Hotel Restaurant Association of the Philippines (HRAP) in cooperation with famous hotels in the metro and Bayview Park Hotel is one of them. From Monday to Friday until July 31st, Bayview Park Hotel will be serving a buffet lunch at hotel's Lobby Coffee Shop located at Bayview ground floor, left side right after the main entrance of the hotel.

A wide variety of dishes combined with unique blend of authenticity and creativity is waiting for you and your family and friends. An everyday taste of our country's finest cuisine from different regions, with an added festivity ambiance with the Filipiniana motif decorative. Recently I had a chance to taste and experience this because I am one of the invited bloggers for Bayview Park Hotel's launch of "Kulinarya Kalyaan Food Festival".

To start off a Lumpiang Toge (Deep Fried Bean Sprout Roll) served as my appetizer and I like its authentic taste because they put a shrimp on it to taste and I combined it with Pancit Canton Guisado (Stir-Fried Canton Noodles w/ Mixed Sea Food and Vegetables) which is perfect for me because it blends with the sourness of Lumpia due to its vinegar sauce and the saltiness of Pancit Canton. I was thinking of eating a Pancit HabHab which is eaten with vinegar yummm....

For my main course, I only took a small serving of steamed rice because, I wanted to indulge my taste buds on the viand that was prepared.Like for example the Relyenong Pusit (Stuffed Squid) which one of my favorite that day because the squid is perfectly cooked, it is not rubbery to bite and the sweetness of the squid's meat is still present.I also had Sinigang na Maya-Maya combined with it to serve as my soup.

Of course the Kare-Kare( Beef w/ Thickened Peanut Sauce), which I found amusing because it was my first time to I eat a Kare-Kare without a peanut bits on it and it it not that sticky at all which I like also because you can taste plainly the vegetable and meat. It is so delicious even without the bagoong or fish paste which perfect combination of Kare-Kare.

Then the Ginataang Sitaw at Kalabasa (String Beans and Squash in Coconut Milk) was also one of my fav because it cooked with coconut milk and it blends and forms a sticky sauce for the dish and the veggies are still crunchy.

And for the desert of course the all-time Filipino favourite, its Halo-Halo, Sago't Gulaman and Kakanin, what a great finale for a delicious and sumptuous buffet lunch. I will never say how many times I went to buffet area and get some for me, but I'll tell you its so worth to start your KULINARYA FESTIVAL journey at BAYVIEW PARK HOTEL MANILA. For only Php450.00net/person you will discover illuminating insights on our country's widely diverse classic recipes amidst the romantic and historical corners of the hotel itself.

Located at 1118 Roxas Boulevard corner United Nations Avenue just right in front of US Embassy, a very accessible place from whenever you are with telephone number 247-9000 and 526-1555 or you can email them at bookings@bayviewparkhotel.com or visit their website at www.bookings@bayviewparkhotel.com.

Second Leg of Run United 2012

Run United by Unilab Active Health is an annual fun run spare headed by the world's number one pharmaceutical company UNILAB. Last week me and my husband once again join the second leg of the run trilogy. Last March we ran for 3K category and this month we run the same category as well. Were so happy and fulfilled because we improved our run time and pace yeayy, with the support of our coaches at Run United Clinic at BGC we reached our goal to run the 3K less than 30 minutes, that means we can run the 5K on the third leg of Run United, because we made it as a sign that if we finish 3K less than 30 minutes we will proceed to the next level, 5K.So wish as well and I hope we can have more time to attend the running clinic and practice for Run United 3 that will happen on September 16.

As expected the registration was so organized because they provide an online and accessible onsite registration and the singlet, bib and kit are given at Unilab Expo a week before the run. I really like the idea of them having a running clinic located at BGC which is an advantage for us because its near from our home. During the event, I like how the booths was organized and easy to be seen and roam around the area. I like also the program because aside from my all time favorite cheering competition, they also have bands leaded by Kitchie Nadal and Barbie Almalbis.

The only downside of the event is during the run, that runners throw their plastic cups at sidewalks, provided that Unilab have lots of plastic trashcans near the water station. I hope next time they would be more runners that are concern about what they are doing during and after the run, because I saw lots of empty plastic bottles at the events floor.

But all in all Unilab once again did it great and I love how me and my husband reached our goal to fullfill our dreams to have an active, healthy and fun lifestyle. Thank you Unilab see you at the third leg we will finish this until the end. For more details and updates follow Unilab's Run Active Health Facebook page.

DOH, Fitness First and Uno Magazine's "Dance for Life" Campaign

Last Saturday June 2, 2012, the usual crowd of Greenbelt 3 has change into more fun and excitement. I was invited to cover the event, but when I was in the area which is in the Activity Area of Greenbelt, I don't know how to start and where do I stay because the crowd which turned into dancers is scattered around. I just noticed that it was them because the one who portrays grandmother or "Lola" is at my side.
This flash mob is a collaboration of Department of Health, Fitness First Philippines and supported by UNO Magazine and Hubo Productions which launches various health awareness programs to support the Department of Health’s campaign on fitness and exercise. Spearheaded by DOH Asst. Secretary Dr. Enrique Tayag and Fitness First Retropop instructors and approximately 250 members of Fitness First – Retropop group held a surprise flashmob entitled “Dance for Life”. Popular tracks from 70's (September), 80's(Head over Heels) upto today (Louder,Domino and Dance Again) were played and the group dance their heart out.
After the flashmob, they conducted a press conference at Cerveseria, Greenbelt and UNO Magazine Managing Director and co-organizer of the flashmob Maan Ilustre explains that they call it "Dance for Life" because Retropop(popular music of that particular decade) not only make our body healthy as well as our mind and spirits. Managing Director of Opal Investments Ida Tiongson is the one who conceptualized the said flashmob as she made also at Dubai Airport which you can view on Retropop Facebook page.

Its really fun to watch the execution of the participants that day even the DOH Secretary himself joined the flashmob and he really dances very good. I want to participate also on this kind of campaign. Hopefully the next event I will hehe...I wanna dance, I wanna join, I want Retropop and I wanna "Dance for Life".

This project is also supported by Condura, Flawless, Buddy’s Pancit, Izod, Summit Mineral Water, Nestle Cereals, Hurom Juicer and Gardenia.
