Rice is the most essential staple food for the large part of the world's human population, especially here, in the Philippines. It is the most important grain which human nutrition and caloric intake, providing more than one fifth of the calories consumed worldwide. And man mostly children, needed nutrients for faster brain and body development.
I've been to Virlenie Foundation last Monday for the press launch of their project entitled "Rice Up! for Street Children". This project aims to collect pledges to accommodate its monthly needs of 50 sacks of rice per month for its homes and outreach programs in slums communities. A way to ensure that children are learning despite their economic and social circumstances is ti mitigate their hunger.
Moreover, the event also presented Tim Yap as Virlanie Foundation's new Ambassador of Goodwill. Since 2008, Tim Yap has always making time for foundations events and campaigns but never had a chance to formalized his relationship with Virlanie not until that day.
After the program we had a chance to visit one of Virlanie Foundation's home for the children ages 5-8. The children also prepared a special dance number for us and they really do dance well. They were so enthusiast to welcome us, and we even hold their hands and carried them. We also met the volunteers who help them every step of the way.
Let us support this campaign and help children to have a brighter future. Visit www.virlanie.org for more details about the foundation or contact them through 632 895.3450 or email them to frcom2@virlanie.org.
