The Sony Search for the Next Big University Musical Act 'Like Performance, Love Sony'

Sony Philippines sets the stage to shine the spotlight on the best university musical performances through its “Like Performance, Love Sony” contest. Sony  Believes in the musical potential of the Filipino youth, and this includes the next breed of balladeers, rock stars and divas. The reason why Sony will stop over five universities – Centro Escolar University on September 9, University of the Philippines on September 13, De La Salle University on September 14, Lyceum of the Philippines University on September 20 and Far Eastern University on September 29 and set the battlefield for the crème of the crop when it comes to music.

I witnessed that potential because I was invited last September 13 on their second road search for the next big university musical talent at University of the Philippines. I learned that the contest is open for solo performers and groups of up to five members, 18 to 30 years old. During the university roadshows, the performances of the participants will be filmed and recorded using Sony Handycam and Sony PCM-M10, a professional recording device which offers studio quality audio recording.

In the same way they will feature the latest products from Sony as well as the newest mobile phones of Sony Ericsson. Students are also in for a treat as Sony Music Philippines’ artists are set to perform at each university including the bands Kilos (University of the Philippines) Pupil, Itchyworms and rapper Gloc 9 etc.. They will not only raise the level of entertainment decibels higher for us, but they will also give valuable tips to the contestants as well for the betterment of their group and performance.

We asked the Brand Activation Management Division Director Alvin G. De Vera about the ongoing contest and he says " It turned out successful even were in the middle of the roadshows and found so many talented students and expected to choose the best among them to represent our country and will be flown to Singapore to attend the exclusive  Sony Year-End Party and complete to five other countries'. 'The Filipinos cannot get enough of music or singing contests simply because the Filipino is nation blessed with the gift of melody. Today, music is undeniably one of the most popular forms of expression among the youth' says Erica dela Cruz, Sony Philippines Senior Officer for Brand Activation Management.

After all the five university roadshows, the videos will be posted on www.sony.com.ph/likemusic where the public can vote for the favorite act. Those who would like view the videos and vote have to like www.facebook.com/SonyPhilippines before they can do so. Aside from the university legs, interested participants can also film their own musical act by liking the Sony Philippine Facebook page then uploading their performance clips at www.sony.com.ph/likemusic.

Voting will be open from October 1 to October 15. The ten participants with the highest number votes will proceed to the finals round and perform live.  Exciting prizes await both the participants and their universities. The grand winner gets $2,000 and Sony products worth up to $4,000 dollars. The university where the winner hails from will also receive $2,000. And if the Filipino musical protégé emerges triumphant, he or she wins an additional $5,000.

Bon Chon at Ayala Triangle

I attended a 1st Bon Chon Treat for bloggers last Septrember 10. It was an afternoon of fun and I enjoyed it a lot with other bloggers and friends which is located at Ayala Triangle. The original Korean fried chicken secret was then shared here at the Philippines. And I think I am one of the Filipinos who really liked and love the taste of Bon Chon. That day, I think it was my 7th time to tried the Bon Chon chicken and every time I ate, Im looking forward to my next visit to think that I ordered the same chicken the Bon Chon Chicken Combo.

Before we started the food tasting the owners and authorities of Bon Chon Philippines introduces what are the meal to be served and talked about something about it. Like the Bon Chon  chicken which is made with a special cooking technique that renders the fat to create a crunchier skin, whats why we all like its crispy yet light and not greasy.

Then the Fish Taco was served and generously gave a delicious taste, the Kimchi coleslaw added the sumptous taste of the taco and we all liked it so much as well as the Ginger Tofu Salad which was a dressing that perfectly blends with the veggies of the salad.

The Calamari was also served, and I noticed that the size of the calamari used is smaller than the usual size in other restaurant that's why it has a tastier blend of calamari. The last but not the least is the Bulgogi Rice which served as the finale meal and It never failed our pallet. The tenderness and aroma of the meat and rice will make your day last. You should take it from me because I experience it, although I have enough from Bon Chon chicken and the later meals, I never failed to taste the Bulgogi Rice and I thank my instinct for that hehhe...

Thank you so much Bon Chon for the treat and I will definitely come back sooner. If you want to have a Bon Chon treat for you and your family just visit them at Ayala Triangle Gardens and they also have at Greenbelt 1, SM Megamall Building A, Libis across Eastwood, Robinsons Galleria and Greenhill Promenade. You can also call 621 6130 for Ayala Triangle Pick-Up and Bon Chon Delivery 212 1212. Omega 3 Academy Asia

Omega 3 fish oil is a type of polysaturated 'good' fat that is important to our health, it can't be made by our body, so it needs to be obtained through our diets. It plays an important role in achieving good health and can protect against a number of diseases. It is good to know that there are group of people who are concern about peoples' health and gives awareness for them to know more about the importance of omega 3 in our body.

Recently I attended an event hosted by Ms. Cristine Jacob and sponsored by sanofi-aventis the makers of Cenovis Fish Oil capsule about the launching of Omega 3 Academy Asia. It composed of doctors and professors who aims to give awareness and understanding about omega 3 worldwide that's why www.omega3academy.com/ph was made. Chaired by Professor Andrew Sinclair from Deakin University in Australia and the members were came from Korea, Thailand and of course the Philippines which is present in the said event and discussed essential things about omega 3.

Dr. Tommy Ty-Willing and endocrinologist gave us a brief explanation about the importance of having omega 3 in our body and the risk of not having it specially in people with heart diseases or at risk with it. He said that it is important for us to saturate our body with omega 3 for us to be more protected and prevents heart diseases. The more we have omega 3 in our diet the better. Another Filipino doctor who is member of the group is Dr. Eugene Reyes which discussed about the benefits of omega 3 for you and your family and the main sources of it which is according to him are fish like sardines, tuna, and krill.

I learned a lot from this event and from on, I will include fish oil(omega 3) on my diet and I think I should take Cenovis fish oil capsule everyday to make sure. In fact doctor says there is no such thing as fish oil overdose, instead the more the better. If you wanna learn about Cenovis visit www.cenovis.com.ph

It is matured in four different types of oak casks, the Sherry, Bourbon, Charred and Refill casks to gain and match according to taste of whisky drinkers from scotch aroma, mellow taste, malt&peat aroma and smoothness. Also discussed the wine making from malting, mashing, fermentation, distillation and maturation.

An opportunity to glimpse on their official website (coming soon) www.benmorescotchwhisky.com, and learn anything about BenMore from events, ambassador  and types etc. Then the brand ambassador Borgy Manotoc was introduced, bloggers also started to ask him question after his speech. Some of the question thrown was "What he like about BenMore for him to accept it as an ambassador?" and he says "I really like BenMore particularly about its taste and flexibility"."What do you like to mixed with BenMore", "I like it more when I mixed it with ice tea" Borgy says and also he ask about his personal point of view about drinking  and he said that drinking is good with proper moderation. I really like his honest answers and he never left a smile in his face in answering.
