Sport requires mental and physical skills, an skillful activity that is organized, competitive and fun. Moreover it requires strategy, focus and commitment in order to reached your goal, also there are set of rules and regulations to be followed. Furthermore sport/s teach us to be more respectful, cooperative, importance of camaraderie and discipline among participants. I believe thats the reason why schools has a sport/physical education which included in the curriculum. Enable to mold and teach students about the necessary things within.

Particularly here in the Philippines, The Department of Education aims to promote Physical Education and sports as an integral part of the Basic Education Curriculum and as an affirmation to the school's commitment to the full development of the great potentials of the youth to become responsible and globally competitive citizens of the society. In addition to that is to instill and imbibe among the pupils the spirit of discipline, teamwork, excellence, fair play, solidarity, sportsmanship and other values inherent in sports to built a Strong Republic. As a result, Palarong Pambansa Program conducted and happens annually.

Palarong Pambansa Program is an annual multi-level national scholastic athletic competition managed by the Department of Education and participated in by elementary and secondary students both from public and private schools. It begins within the schools by intramurals then by the district, division, regional athletic meets and culminates in the national game. Thus, the best of the best really sends to Palarong Pambansa which started since 1948.

This year, May 8-14 is the 54th Palarong Pambansa will be held at Dapitan City, Zamboanga Del Norte, the place were our National Hero Dr. Jose Rizal was exile. In celebration with his 150th birth anniversary and 115th year of death this year, this is a perfect time also for participants to touch the ground and have a glimpse in the place that our National Hero lived for four years. Were are estimated 10,000 athletes and school officials  will take part on this national sports event.
